Weslaco-Con el corazón lleno de tristeza, pero también de gratitud, anunciamos el sereno fallecimiento de Zenaida Méndez Cepeda el 7 de julio de 2026. Nacida en Río Bravo, Tamaulipas, el 24 de marzo de 1940, la vida de Zenaida fue un tapiz tejido con fortaleza, amor y una inquebrantable dedicación a su familia. Su recorrido, que abarcó más de ocho décadas, tocó la vida de innumerables personas, y su recuerdo permanecerá para siempre como una fuente de consuelo e inspiración para quienes tuvieron la bendición de conocerla.

Zenaida fue la querida hija de Rafael Méndez y Genoveva Cepeda. Desde sus primeros años en Río Bravo, se distinguió por su alegría contagiosa: siempre feliz, siempre dispuesta a recibir a los demás con una amplia sonrisa y los brazos abiertos. Las dificultades de la vida nunca apagaron su espíritu; por el contrario, sacaron a relucir su extraordinaria fortaleza. Junto a ellos, su círculo familiar continúa a través de Reyna, Julie, Elena, Guillermina, Daniel, Sergio Padilla y Antonio Martínez, quienes compartieron con ella alegrías y tristezas como fieles esposos y compañeros de vida. Cada uno lleva consigo las semillas de su bondad, fortaleza y perseverancia, y en sus risas y desafíos el espíritu de Zenaida sigue viviendo. También le sobreviven numerosos nietos y bisnietos, cada uno de los cuales ocupó un lugar muy especial en su corazón. Ella atesoró cada momento compartido con ellos, creando recuerdos imborrables mediante su amor incondicional, su guía llena de ternura y su apoyo constante.

Zenaida siempre llevó muy cerca de su corazón a sus padres, Rafael y Genoveva, esas luces que hoy se reúnen con ella más allá de este mundo. Los profundos lazos familiares definieron su vida, y encontró sus momentos de mayor felicidad al cuidar de sus hijos. Ya fuera brindando apoyo en silencio o dando un paso al frente con cariño y orientación, Zenaida siempre estuvo presente, demostrando su generosidad en cada esfuerzo y sacrificio.

Familiares y amigos están cordialmente invitados a honrar la extraordinaria vida de Zenaida. El velorio se llevará a cabo el 9 de julio de 2026, de 5:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m., con un servicio de oración a las 6:00 p.m., ambos en Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of the Heavens, ubicado en 2929 W. Expressway 83, Weslaco, TX 78599. El servicio fúnebre se celebrará en el mismo lugar el viernes 10 de julio a las 10:00 a.m., seguido de la sepultura en Mercedes Memorial Restlawn Cemetery a partir de las 11:00 a.m.

Zenaida was the cherished daughter of Rafael Mendez and Genoveva Cepeda. From her earliest days in Rio Bravo, she embodied an infectious joy-always happy, always ready with a beaming smile and open arms. Life's challenges did not dim her spirit; rather, they brought forth her incredible strength. Zenaida was a fighter-a strong woman, unbreakable even in the face of adversity. Her family recalls her as a pillar of support, never hesitating to offer her help, especially when her children were in need. Her love was fierce and boundless, her affection a warm embrace for all whom she cared for.

Her legacy is most evident in the generous love she bestowed upon her family. Left to treasure her memory are her beloved children: Carlota Guerra, Oscar Trevino, Rafael Trevino, Eduardo Trevino, Jose Matias Trevino, Jose Manuel Trevino, Daniel Trevino, Esmeralda Trevino Vallejo, Rosalinda Trevino, and Brenda Trevino. Alongside them, her family circle is carried forward by Reyna, Julie, Elena, Guillermina, Daniel, Sergio Padilla, and Antonio Martinez, all of whom shared in her joys and sorrows as loyal spouses. Family and friends are invited to honor Zenaida's remarkable life. A public viewing will be held on July 9, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m., both at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of the Heavens, located at 2929 W. Expressway 83, Weslaco, TX 78599. A funeral service will take place at the same location on Friday, July 10 at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Mercedes Memorial Restlawn Cemetery beginning at 11:00 a.m.
