Yolanda V. Rodriguez

Yolanda Vasquez Rodriguez, age 77, passed away to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Harlingen, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 13, 1948, to Catarino Vasquez+ and Jelasia Orozco Vasquez+ in Hargil, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Ms. Rodriguez was a strong, independent woman with a heart full of love for her family and community. As a proud migrant worker in her youth, she helped support her family, traveling from Oregon to California, and spending summers in Mexico to stay close to her roots. She was deeply passionate about education, dedicating many years to teaching, primarily in Kindergarten at La Villa Elementary School. She also taught C.C.D. at her Catholic church for some years, sharing her faith with many young students. After retirement, she continued her passion as a substitute teacher at the high school level.

Yolanda was an amazing mother who poured her heart into raising her children, always ensuring they received the best education and supporting their dreams. She was equally devoted to her role as a grandmother, always affectionate and proud of her grandsons. Yolanda was also a loving sister, daughter, cousin, tia, and friend who will be remembered for her fierce dedication to those she loved. She had a strong sense of integrity and always did things her own way, teaching her family the values of resilience, kindness, and helping others. She loved watching soccer-cheering for Las Aguilas, spending time with her cats, going to "comadrazos" with friends, and baking sweets for her family.

Ms. Rodriguez is survived by her children, Eric G. (Julia) Rodriguez and AmandaRae V. (Gary) Rodriguez of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by her grandsons, Lucas Todd Rodriguez and Oliver Raney Rodriguez, as well as her siblings Efrain (Susie) Vasquez of Dallas, and Uvaldo (Lupita) Vasquez and Maria Leonor Vasquez of Elsa. Yolanda is also survived by her cousin Juan (Frances) Vasquez and their children, along with her many nieces, nephews, and extended family, all of whom she cherished deeply.

The family invites Yolanda's family and friends for a viewing on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. at Salinas Funeral Home Elsa - Chapel of The Heavens.
