Tomas Fonseca

March 5, 1953 — June 13, 2026

Tomas Fonseca, a man of unwavering faith, deep love for his family, and a heart full of music and joy, passed away on June 13, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on March 5, 1953, in Progreso, TX, Tomas lived a life marked by honor, strength, and an enduring commitment to those he loved.

A proud veteran of the Army, Tomas carried the values of discipline, loyalty, and service throughout his life. He was a man of authority, not by demand but by respect, always protective and devoted to his beloved family. Those who knew Tomas saw a truly honorable man a man of his word, deeply God-fearing and grounded in faith. His devotion to God was matched only by his passion for music. Many were touched by the warm, cheerful moments when he would lift his accordion or guitar, filling his home with melodies that brought laughter and comfort to all who gathered around him.

Tomas was a blessed husband to his wife of 36 years, Isidra Fonseca. Together, they built a loving home filled with music, faith, and devotion. He was a proud and caring father to his sons, Tomas Fonseca Jr., Dominic Fonseca (beloved husband of Mayella), and Angelo Billee Fonseca, and daughters Alida Fonseca and Abril Fonseca Garza (wife of Juan Antonio). His love extended beyond his immediate family to his numerous siblings: brothers Benito Fonseca Jr. and Ipolito Fonseca, and sisters Susana Fonseca Mena, Noemi Fonseca, Guadalupe De La Paz Fonseca Mena, San Juana Fonseca Villarreal, Irene Fonseca Villarreal, Elia Gean Fonseca, and Elia May Fonseca.

He was a devoted grandfather to 18 grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren, each carrying forward the legacy of love and joy he so cherished. His sense of humor, warmth, and perpetual happiness brightened the lives of many friends who stood by him through the years.

Tomas's family remembers him as a good son and brother, cherishing the memories shared with his parents, Benito Cano Fonseca and Maria Silva, both of whom have passed on, as well as his brothers Jacobo Fonseca and Cornelio Fonseca.

Services celebrating Tomas's remarkable life will be held at the Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of the Heavens, located at 2929 W. Expressway 83, Weslaco, TX.
