Socorro Murua

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Socorro Murua, beloved wife, sister, and friend, who departed from this world on September 24, 2026, at the age of 76. A lifelong resident of Brownsville, Texas, Socorro touched the lives of those around her with her warmth, kindness, and enduring spirit.

Born on July 12, 1950, Socorro dedicated her life to her family as a devoted housewife. She took great pride in creating a warm and nurturing home, where laughter and love always abounded. Socorro was a remarkable woman with a passion for sewing and a deep appreciation for life's beauty. Many cherished memories were made as she traveled by car with her husband, exploring the wonders of creation.

Socorro is survived by her devoted husband, Mario Murua Sr., and her loving sisters: Minerva Mejia, Martha Benavides, Tomasita Anderson, Guadalupe Benavides, Laura Mejia, and Eva Benavides. Her unwavering love for her family and her vibrant spirit will forever remain in their hearts.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Socorro's life and legacy during her funeral services. A public viewing will be held on September 29, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Salinas Funeral Home-Chapel of the Angels. A Rosary will be held on September 29, 2026, at 7:00 PM at Salinas Funeral Home-Chapel of the Angels in Brownsville.

A Mass in celebration of Socorro's life will occur at St. Eugene De Mazenod Catholic Church in Brownsville on September 30, 2026, at 12:00 PM, followed by her interment at Buena Vista Burial Park at 1:00 PM. We invite all to join us in honoring her remarkable journey and reflecting on the love and laughter she brought into our lives.

As we say goodbye to a beloved sister and friend, we celebrate the countless memories and the profound impact Socorro Murua had on all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in our hearts, reminding us to cherish the beauty of each day.
