Weslaco-With profound sadness and heavy hearts, yet with an abundance of love and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Mr. Senovio Cantu, 68, of Weslaco, Texas. A beloved companion, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and dear friend, Senovio leaves behind a lifetime of laughter, unforgettable moments, and a love that will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
Senovio was born to Nabor Cantu and Teodora Cantu. Throughout his life, he was known for his larger-than-life personality, his wonderful sense of humor, and his remarkable ability to bring a smile to anyone's face. To know Senovio was to love him. He was truly one of a kind-a character in the very best way, always ready with a joke, a funny story, or a playful remark that could turn even the most ordinary moment into a treasured memory.
Senovio never met a stranger. Whether he was surrounded by lifelong friends or meeting someone for the very first time, he had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome. His friendly nature, honesty, and genuine heart earned him the love and respect of so many. He was a man who spoke from the heart, lived life on his own terms, and never pretended to be anyone other than himself. His laughter was contagious, his personality unforgettable, and his presence could brighten any room.
Among the many things Senovio enjoyed in life, one of his greatest pleasures was listening and dancing to Tejano music. Weekends often meant an opportunity to put on his dancing shoes, enjoy his favorite songs, and embrace the simple happiness of life. He loved a good time, good music, and good company. Those who shared a dance, a laugh, or a conversation with him will forever remember the joy and energy he brought wherever he went.
But above all the laughter, music, and friendships, Senovio's greatest pride and joy was his family. Nothing meant more to him than his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. He was an incredibly proud grandfather, and his nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild were truly his world. They filled his heart with a happiness that words could never fully describe. Every moment spent with them was a blessing, and the love he had for them was immeasurable. His family was his greatest accomplishment, his greatest treasure, and the reason behind so many of his happiest smiles.
Senovio leaves behind to cherish his beautiful memory his lifelong partner, Susana Cagigal, who shared life's journey with him through countless memories, laughter, and love. He is also survived by his beloved son, Senovio Sparrow; his loving daughters, Sandra Del Angel (Eric) and Sabrina Sky Cantu (Roman Romo); his brother, Jose Cantu; and his sisters, Rosa Contreras and Enedelia Salinas. His legacy of love continues through his nine cherished grandchildren and one precious great-grandchild, who will forever carry a special piece of their grandfather in their hearts.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Amado Edelmiro Cantu, Nabor Cantu Jr., and Ernesto Cantu; and his sisters, Andrea Morato Lara and Candelaria Cantu Mata.
Although his departure brings an indescribable sadness, Senovio's life reminds us that the greatest treasures we leave behind are not material possessions, but the love we give, the laughter we share, and the memories we create. He taught those around him to enjoy life's little moments, to find reasons to smile, and to never miss an opportunity to dance when the music was playing.
There will be moments when his family hears a favorite Tejano song and wishes they could see him dancing just one more time. There will be family gatherings when someone remembers one of his jokes, and through the tears, laughter will fill the room once again. And there will be countless days when his children and grandchildren wish for one more hug, one more conversation, or one more chance to tell him how much he meant to them.
Yet, in every shared story, every familiar melody, and every beautiful memory, Senovio will continue to live on.
A man like Senovio is never truly forgotten. His laughter becomes our memories, his love becomes our strength, and his legacy lives forever through the family he treasured so deeply.
Though our hearts are broken by his absence, we find comfort in knowing that he lived a life filled with love, friendship, music, and laughter. May his family find peace in the countless beautiful memories he leaves behind, and may they always remember him with a smile, just as he would have wanted.
Rest peacefully, Senovio. The music may have stopped, but your love, laughter, and unforgettable spirit will dance in our hearts forever.
