Salome J. Cardona, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Born on March 18, 1931, at Maria De Jesus Ranch, Texas, Salome lived a life marked by kindness, hard work, and an ever-present welcoming spirit that made everyone feel at ease.

Salome was known for his great sense of humor and his ability to brighten any room with his warmth and sincerity. Throughout his 73 years of marriage to his cherished wife, Gloria L. Cardona, he demonstrated unwavering love and dedication to his family. A respected and hardworking man, he deeply valued spending time with those closest to him, creating enduring memories and a loving family legacy.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria L. Cardona, and their daughters: Maria Elva Cardenas; Maria Luisa Cardona Limas and her husband Rene; Beatriz Cardona Rodriguez and her husband Jose Luis; Belia Cardona Guevara and her husband Rey; Veronica Cardona Vera and her husband Marco; and Gloria Cardona Guzman and her husband Jaime. Salome was a proud grandfather to 20 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom held him dearly in their hearts.

Salome was preceded in death by his father, Gilberto Cardona, and mother, Maria Luisa Davila; his sons, Prudencio Cardona and Salome Cardona, Jr., who was married to Maria; and his siblings, brothers Abel Cardona, Francisco Cardona, and Gilberto Cardona; as well as his sisters Magee Cardona, Angela Cardona, and Paula Cardona.

His life will be honored with a viewing on Frida, May 1, 2026, starting at 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at Salinas Funeral Home - Chapel of the Angels, located at 304 E. Edinburg Ave, Elsa, Texas. The funeral service will follow on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the same location, concluding with interment at Villa de la Paz Cemetery in Hargill, Texas, at 11:00 AM.

Salome J. Cardona's legacy of kindness, respect, and devotion to family will be forever remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered as a great man who enriched the lives of those around him. May he rest in peace.
