With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ruben B. Gonzalez of Donna, TX, who entered eternal rest on August 16, 2026, in San Juan, Texas, at the age of 84. Ruben was born on December 6, 1941, to Valentin Gonzalez, Sr. and Beatriz Lopez.

Ruben lived a life centered around love, family, and devotion. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence brought strength and comfort to those fortunate enough to know him. His family was the foundation of his life, and the love he shared with them will remain his greatest and most treasured legacy.

For 60 beautiful years, Ruben shared his life with his devoted wife, Mary R. Gonzalez. Together, they built a lifetime filled with love, memories, and a family that Ruben cherished deeply. Their six decades of marriage were a testament to commitment, companionship, and a love that endured through every season of life.

Ruben took great pride in his children and in watching his family grow through the generations. Nothing brought him greater joy than the time spent surrounded by those he loved. His guidance, wisdom, and the memories he created with his family will continue to live on in their hearts for generations to come.

Ruben is preceded in death by his parents, Valentin Gonzalez, Sr. and Beatriz Lopez.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 60 years, Mary R. Gonzalez; his two sons, Ruben B. Gonzalez, Jr. and Urban Gonzalez (Cathleen); his brother, Juan Gonzalez (Estela); and his sister, Hilda Gonzalez Garcia (Fred Gloria).

Also surviving Ruben are his four beloved grandchildren, Ruben B. Gonzalez III, Randy Gonzalez, Urban A. Gonzalez, Jr., and Rianna B. Gonzalez; and his two precious great-grandchildren, Revan Gonzalez and Rowan Gonzalez, who will carry forward the love and legacy he leaves behind.

Although Ruben's earthly journey has come to an end, the life he lived and the love he gave will never be forgotten. His family will remember the countless moments they shared, the lessons he taught through his example, and the love that connected them throughout his lifetime. His memory will remain forever woven into the hearts of his family and all who knew and loved him.

A visitation for Ruben B. Gonzalez will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of Grace, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM that same evening.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Donna, Texas. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna, Texas.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco.
