Brownsville- Raymundo "Ray" Rosas Jr. was born on January 4, 1961, in San Juan, Texas, and passed away on July 18, 2025, in Brownsville, Texas. He lived a life rich in service to his community and love for his family, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
For 27 years, Ray dedicated himself to the City of Brownsville as a police officer, rising to the rank of Sergeant. His unwavering commitment to public safety was exemplified through his roles as a Senior Traffic Officer and Traffic Investigator. He also served as a Field Training Officer, guiding the next generation of officers with the same passion and dedication he displayed throughout his career. As a former President of the Brownsville Police Officers Association, Ray impacted not only the lives of his colleagues but also the entire community he was sworn to protect.
Beyond his professional achievements, Ray was a vibrant man full of life and enthusiasm. He had a warm and inviting personality; it was said he never met a stranger. Wherever he went, there seemed to be a familiar face. His love for family was unmatched, and he cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was gathered around a bonfire at Boca Chica Beach or sharing tales from frequent hunting and fishing trips.
Ray had a creative spirit, expressing himself as a DJ and delighting in karaoke, always the life of the party. His laughter and ability to bring joy to others created countless memories that will linger in the hearts of friends and family alike.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy L Rosas, and their children: Jacob Ray (Selrah) Rosas, Benjamin Thomas (Jeanette) Rosas, Matthews Lee Rosas, and Sarah Louise (Jonathan) Martinez. He adored his mother, Elvira Handy Rosas, and shared a special bond with his brothers, Roy and Rigoberto Rosas, and sister, Sylvia Paz Rodriguez-Barron. Ray was also a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren, each of whom will hold dear the love and wisdom their grandfather imparted.
Ray is preceded in death by his father, Raymundo Rosas Sr., and brother, Rolando Rosas.
As we reflect on the life of Raymundo Rosas Jr., we remember a man who lived with purpose, filled the lives of many with laughter, and left an indelible mark on his community. His spirit will continue to inspire those he touched, reminding us all to cherish our loved ones and celebrate life to its fullest. A viewing will be held on July 23, 2025, at Salinas Funeral Home-Chapel of the Angels in Brownsville, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm followed by a prayer service that evening at 6:00 pm.
