Pedro Munoz Alvarez

WESLACO - Pedro Muñoz Alvarez, 88, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at Weslaco Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on May 29, 1937, Pedro lived a long and hardworking life defined by dedication to his family, his faith, and his craft. From a young age, he showed a natural talent and passion for mechanics, beginning work in his early teens. He spent his life repairing tractors, welding, and building jeeps - always with the same steady hands. Pedro was most at peace outdoors, often surrounded by the things he loved: tools, fresh air, and the chickens he took great pride in caring for. Whether he was under the hood of an engine or listening to the radio as he worked, he found joy in these moments. Those who knew him best remember his seriousness, his strength, and his unwavering sense of responsibility as a protector of his family. He found deep meaning in his values, humility, and hard work. Mealtimes were especially meaningful to him, and he had a special love for mole - particularly the version his daughter-in-law learned to make just for him.

He is survived by his five children, Jose Antonio, Erasmo, Raul, Rodolfo (Anabel), Alejandro; six siblings, Jesusa, Maria De Jesus, Consuelo, Carlos, Adela, Paula; twenty-two grandchildren; many more great grandchildren, family, and friends.

Pedro is received in heaven by his beloved wife, Emelia Alvarez; his parents, Luis and Carmen; two children, Jaime and Alvaro; four siblings, Ester, Emma, Eloy, Daniel; and one grandson, Allan Michael Alvarez; great-granddaughter, Vivi Alvarez.

A visitation will be held at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco on Monday, September 22, 2025 from 5PM to 9PM with a rosary service at 7PM. A funeral service will be held at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 2PM followed by burial at Val Verde Memorial Gardens.
