She was born on February 24, 1939, in Villa De La Paz, San Luis Potosi, Mexico—a place that forever held a special corner of her heart and shaped the gentle, enduring spirit that those who knew her came to cherish.

To all who had the privilege of sharing in her journey, Modesta was a source of unwavering kindness, quiet strength, and deep devotion. Her legacy is woven with love and resilience, nurtured by the roots of her upbringing in Mexico and blossomed throughout her lifetime as a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend.

Modesta was the cherished daughter of Julian Silva and Leonor Cerda, whose lessons and love stayed with her always. She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her dear husband Jorge Aranda, who was her steadfast partner and companion in life. She also joins in eternal peace her siblings: brothers Justo, Felipe, Ignacio, and Jesus Silva, and sisters Enedina and Juana Silva. Though their absence was felt deeply, the bonds they formed remain unbroken by time or distance.

She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and a family strengthened by her example. Mourning her loss while celebrating her life are her devoted daughters: Mauricia Arredondo, Maria Felicitas Martinez, Sofia Aranda, and Maria De La Paz Silva. Their lives are a testament to the values their mother instilled—love, perseverance, and unity. Through them, Modesta’s love continues to shine, connecting generations and communities.

As a mother, Modesta was devoted in every sense—present with gentle guidance, tireless care, and unconditional love. Her wisdom, warmth, and grace shaped the hearts of her family, reassuring them through life’s challenges and rejoicing in their victories. A public viewing will be held on July 7th, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of the Heavens, located at 2929 W. Expressway 83, Weslaco, TX 78599. A Rosary will be offered the same evening at 7:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on July 8th, 2026, at 1:00 PM, also at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of the Heavens. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park, 6705 N FM 88, Weslaco, TX 78599, at 2:00 PM, where loved ones will lay her to rest beside those she has so dearly missed.

Con profundo pesar y con amorosos recuerdos, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Modesta Silva Cerda, quien partió a la presencia del Señor el 2 de julio de 2026 en Weslaco, Texas. Nació el 24 de febrero de 1939 en Villa de la Paz, San Luis Potosí, México, un lugar que siempre ocupó un rincón especial en su corazón y que forjó el espíritu noble, fuerte y amoroso que la distinguió durante toda su vida.

Modesta fue una mujer de inquebrantable bondad, fortaleza silenciosa y profunda devoción hacia su familia. Vivió una vida cimentada en la fe, la humildad y el amor al prójimo, siempre anteponiendo el bienestar de quienes más amaba. A través de una palabra de aliento, un abrazo sincero o un acto de generosidad, dejó una huella imborrable en todos aquellos que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla.

Fue la amada hija de Julián Silva y Leonor Cerda, quienes le inculcaron los valores que la acompañaron durante toda su vida. Le precedieron en el descanso eterno su querido esposo, Jorge Aranda, quien fue su fiel compañero de vida, así como sus hermanos Justo Silva, Felipe Silva, Ignacio Silva y Jesús Silva, y sus hermanas Enedina Silva y Juana Silva. Aunque su partida dejó un profundo vacío, el amor y los recuerdos compartidos permanecerán para siempre.

Deja para atesorar su memoria a sus amadas hijas: Mauricia Arredondo, María Felícitas Martínez, Sofía Aranda y María de la Paz Silva, quienes continúan su legado de amor, fe, perseverancia y unión familiar. En ellas permanece vivo el ejemplo de una madre ejemplar y una mujer extraordinaria.

Como madre, Modesta entregó lo mejor de sí cada día. Brindó guía con ternura, apoyo incondicional y un amor que nunca conoció límites. Su sabiduría, paciencia y fortaleza fueron el refugio de su familia en los momentos difíciles y motivo de alegría en los momentos felices. Su ejemplo continuará iluminando el camino de sus seres queridos por siempre.

La velación se llevará a cabo el martes 7 de julio de 2026, de 5:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m., en Salinas Funeral Home de Weslaco – Capilla de Los Cielos, ubicada en 2929 W. Expressway 83, Weslaco, Texas 78599. El Santo Rosario será rezado a las 7:00 p.m.

Los Servicios Fúnebres se celebrarán el miércoles 8 de julio de 2026, a la 1:00 p.m., en Salinas Funeral Home de Weslaco – Capilla de Los Cielos. Posteriormente se realizará el sepelio a las 2:00 p.m. en Highland Memorial Park, ubicado en 6705 N. FM 88, Weslaco, Texas 78599, donde descansará en paz junto a sus seres queridos que le precedieron en la eternidad.

Aunque nuestros corazones están llenos de tristeza por su partida, encontramos consuelo en el inmenso amor, los recuerdos y el legado que Modesta deja en cada uno de nosotros. Su vida fue una bendición, su amor un regalo invaluable y su memoria permanecerá por siempre en los corazones de quienes tuvieron la dicha de conocerla y amarla.

Que Dios le conceda el descanso eterno y brille para ella la luz perpetua. Que descanse en paz, rodeada del amor de nuestro Señor y reunida con aquellos que partieron antes que ella.
