Michael Jeffery Muñiz

Weslaco- Michael Jeffery Muñiz, 49, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 2, 2023 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Mr. Muñiz was born on July 10, 1973 to Mr. Gerardo Muñiz Sr. and Mrs. Karen Van Sickle Muñiz in Clewiston, Florida.

Mr. Muñiz is preceded in death by his first wife, Anissa Rackstraw Muñiz; his sister, Melissa Muñiz; his paternal grandparents, Mr. Jose & Francisca Muñiz; his maternal grandparents; Mr. Grant Sr. & Virgie Van Sickle; his uncles, John Van Sickle, Tim Leigh, B.D. Sheffield; his aunt, Lydia Sheffield.

Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Jacob Muñiz, Tyler Muñiz (Angel), Caleb Muñiz (KC); his nieces and nephews, Matthew Muñiz, Ryan Anderson, Chase Anderson, Madison Muñiz, Tony Pineda, Mariana Villalpando, Lauren Muñiz, Angel Chavez; his former wife, Susan Griggs; his parents, Mr. Gerardo Muñiz Sr. and Mrs. Karen Van Sickle Muñiz; his brothers, Jerry Muñiz (Jamie), Anthony Muñiz (Laura); his sisters, Deanna Muñiz, Jennifer Coffren (Gene); his uncles, Grant Van Sickle (Deborah), Jr., Norval Van Sickle (Vickie), Jose Muñiz (Cassie), Jr.; his aunts, Vikki Van Sickle Leigh, Odelia Mata (Ignacio) and many cousins and friends.

Mike was raised in Belle Glade, Florida & Columbus, Texas.  He had been a resident of Weslaco, Texas for 26 years at the time of his death.  When his boys were younger, he spent his time coaching & supporting them in all their extracurricular activities. It goes without saying that they were the center of his world and he beamed with pride for all of their accomplishments. Mike loved to travel with family & friends planning many memorable trips to Costa Rica, the Virgin Islands, Jamaica, Hawaii, and Dominican Republic to name a few.  His barbecues were amazing and was a self proclaimed pitmaster.  He was the life of the party and enjoyed hanging out with family and friends. Mike was very loveable and giving and would help out anyone in need when possible.  Mike will be greatly missed by everyone.

The Family of Mr. Michael Muñiz will receive family and friends on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 7:30 pm at Salinas Funeral Home- Chapel of Grace in Weslaco.
