Martina O. Perez

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Martina O. Perez, who left this world on January 26, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on July 10, 1928, in Los Herreras Nuevo Leon Mexico, Martina lived a life rich with love, family, and unwavering spirit.

As a devoted homemaker, Martina poured her life into caring for her husband, Pedro Perez, and their numerous children, embodying a profound commitment to family values. She raised her sons-Pete Perez, Jr.(Edna), Roy Perez, Silvano Perez, Raul Perez (Gracie), Roberto Perez (Yolanda), Oscar Perez (Laurie), Roel Perez , Ricardo Perez (Maria) and Arturo Perez (Janie)-with tenderness and strength. She also embraced her daughters, Terry Vargas, Laurentina Bowser (Brian), and Rosie Boroski (Glenn) instilling in them the importance of love, loyalty, and resilience. Martina found joy in the gentle moments shared with her brother, Jesus Ortiz, and sister, America Peña, who brought laughter and companionship throughout her life. She loved and cherished every moment spent with her 30 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Martina is preceded in death by her parents, Julian Ortiz and Maria Gonzalez; her husband, Pedro Perez; one son, Hector Perez and one daughter Teresa Perez.

Her legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and an unwavering spirit that inspired not only her family but all who knew her. She will be remembered for her warm smile, nurturing heart, and her ability to bring people together, often around her inviting table filled with delicious meals. Her gentle wisdom and vibrant stories will be missed immensely, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

In honor of Martina's remarkable life, a series of ceremonies will take place to celebrate her contributions and memory. A public viewing will be held at Salinas Funeral Home Elsa - Chapel of the Angels on Thursday, January 29, 2026,from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:00 PM providing an opportunity for family and friends to come together in remembrance.

A 10:00 AM Mass in her honor will be celebrated on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsa. Immediately following the service, she will be laid to rest in Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, Texas.
