Maria de Jesus Zapata

Mercedes - Maria de Jesus Zapata, 62, passed away, Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Knapp Medical Center.

Mrs. Zapata was born December 14, 1960, in Mercedes, Texas, daughter of Macario Sierra and Consuelo Sierra Hernandez. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Zapata Jr.; her parents; sisters, Nelda Sierra, Leticia Carrasco Sierra, Consuelo Sierra, Lisa Sierra and a granddaughter, Jaden Rose.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Reynaldo Esquivel Sr..; her children, Carroll Ann Riojas (Ricardo), Carlos Zapata, Reynaldo Esquivel Jr.; brothers, Pedro Sierra, Macario Sierra Jr.; sisters, Emma Sierra, Belinda Fernandez, Orlinda Felan. Also surviving her are her grandchildren, Daven, Brenen, Ricardo Jr. "RJ", Hailey, Ethan and Mia.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Friday, February 17, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm at Salinas Funeral Home - Chapel of Grace in Weslaco. As per her wishes, she will be cremated at a later date.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Salinas Funeral Home in Weslaco.
