Maria Valerio

With deep sorrow and a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Maria del Socorro Valerio, a beloved mother, devoted Catholic, and cherished member of the community. Born on May 26, 1934, Maria led a life filled with faith and devotion, exemplifying what it meant to be a god-fearing woman. She departed this world on April 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will endure in the hearts of her family and friends.

Maria was the proud mother of seven children, and her greatest joy came from nurturing her family and instilling in them the values of compassion and hope. She dedicated her life to fostering a spirit of togetherness and support, creating a loving home that welcomed all who entered.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her. Maria's unwavering dedication to her beliefs and her community will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mrs. Valerio is preceded in death by her parents, Salvador Garcia and Maria Leonor Guipsot; her loving husband, Aurelio Valerio; her daughter, Sylvia Quintanilla; her brothers, Juan Antonio Garcia, Ricardo Garica, Manuel Garcia; her sisters, Beatriz Angulo, Josefina Najera, Rumalda Reyna, Hermelinda Galindo; her son-in-law, Juan Salinas.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Enrique (Diamantina) Valerio, Juan (Reynalda) Valerio, Luis (Nicolasa) Valerio, Jesus (Maria) Valerio; her daughters, Irma Valerio Salinas, Rosa (Chris) Seams ; her son-in-law, Ivan Quintanilla; her brother, Enrique Garcia; 19 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Maria Del Socorro Valerio is scheduled for Friday, April 11, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm at Salinas Funeral Home- Chapel of the Heavens in Weslaco. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 12,2025 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Weslaco. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.

Maria Del Socorro Valerio will be profoundly missed by her children, as well as the extended family and community that cherished her. As we gather to celebrate her life, we invite all whose lives she touched to join us in honoring her memory and the faith that sustained her throughout her journey.

May she rest in eternal peace.
