It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Limas, aged 102, who peacefully departed this world on April 29, 2026. Born on March 15, 1924, Maria lived a life filled with love, laughter, and resilience in her beloved hometown of Edcouch, Texas. She was a cherished mother, a devoted friend, and an inspiring figure to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Maria possessed an indomitable spirit that radiated warmth and kindness. Her life was a testament to the strength of family values, served as a beacon of hope and love throughout the years. Maria's nurturing nature and vibrant personality left an indelible mark on those around her, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
Maria will be remembered for her infectious laughter, her love for storytelling, and her culinary skills, which drew family and friends together for countless gatherings filled with joy. As we celebrate her life, we remember not just the years she lived, but the countless moments of love and happiness she bestowed upon those she adored.
Maria proceeded in death by her dear husband Benito Limas, her parents Evencio Aja and Apollonia Rivera. She is survived by her loving sons Roy Limas (Caroline), Rey Limas (Yvonne), Rene Limas (Maria Luisa), and Robert Limas (Elsie), 17 grandchildren, 42 great grandcildren, 21 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held to honor Maria's incredible journey through life. Family and friends are invited to come together to pay their respects, share fond memories, and celebrate the rich legacy she leaves behind.
Her life will be honored with a viewing on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, starting at 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A second day visitation will follow on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, starting at 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM. with a prayer service at 7p.m. at Salinas Funeral Home - Chapel of Heavens, located at 304 E. Edinburg Ave, Elsa, Texas. The funeral service will follow on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the same location, concluding with interment at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, Texas, at 11:00 AM.
As we bid farewell to a cherished matriarch, let us carry forward her spirit of love and compassion in our own lives. Rest in peace, dear Maria; you will be deeply missed, but your light will forever shine in our hearts.
