Maria Del Carmen Gomez, born November 28, 1972, in McAllen, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026. She will be remembered as a compassionate and devoted woman who touched many lives with her kindness and generosity.
Maria had a deep love for animals and was known for her caring nature. She was passionate about helping others and found joy in simple pleasures such as doing puzzles, going for walks, and immersing herself in movies and television shows. An avid music lover, Maria particularly enjoyed Rock and Roll, which often provided the soundtrack to her daily life. She also cherished visiting local markets, such as the pulga, and loved traveling to Reynosa and Progreso, Mexico.
Throughout her life, Maria delighted in spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her sons, Guillermo Acosta Jr. and John Acosta, along with John's wife,Maria Victoria De La Cruz. Her daughter Ashley Puga and her husband Matthew also carry forward her legacy. Maria's close-knit family includes her brothers, Federico (Mari) Perez Jr. and John (Anna) Perez, as well as her sisters, Tracy Heather Perez and Thalia Lee Perez. She was a proud grandmother to thirteen grandchildren, who brought great joy and meaning to her life.
Maria was preceded in death by both of her parents, who raised her with love and strength.
Visitation for Maria Del Carmen Gomez will take place on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of Faith, located at 2929 W. Expressway 83, Weslaco, Texas 78599. A Chapel Service will take place at 2:00 PM that same day followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery starting at 3:00 p.m.
Maria's life was marked by her unwavering spirit, her love of family, and her dedication to supporting those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory and the impact of her kindness will endure.
