Brownsville- Maria Carlota Garcia, 100, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at her residence in Brownsville, Texas.

Mrs. Garcia was born on March 19, 1925 to Mr. Antonio Vela and Mrs. Cecilia Rios Vela in La Escondida, Matamoros, Tamps, Mexico.

Mrs. Garcia is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Antonio Vela and Mrs. Cecilia Rios Vela; her husband, Manuel Garcia; her son-in-laws, Juan M. Jimenez and Jose Abelardo Mata; her grandsons, Juan Manuel Jimenez Jr., Hugo Cesar Mata; her brothers, Heriberto Vela, Simon Vela, Gonzalo Vela, Jesus Vela, Francisco Vela, Guadalupe Vela; her sisters, Guadalupe Vela, Teodora Vela, Felipa Vela, Fidencia Zapata, Francisca Zapata.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Maria Teresa Jimenez, Amparo (Miguel) Martinez, Librada (Magdaleno Aguilar) Mata; her brothers, Antonio Vela, Anastacio Vela; her sisters, Esperanza Vela, Margarita Vela and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren

Visitation for Mrs. Maria Carlota Garcia is scheduled for Monday, August 4, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at Salinas Funeral Home- Chapel of the Angels in Brownsville. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm followed by a Chapel Service at Salinas Funeral Home-Chapel of the Angels in Brownsville. Interment will follow at Guillen Community Cemetery in Brownsville.
