Macrina Montano

Macrina Montano Loya, a cherished resident of Weslaco, Texas, passed away on March 19, 2026. Born on December 6, 1942, in Weslaco, she lived a life marked by devotion to her family and community.

Macrina was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Luis M. Loya, her parents, Jose Montano and Balbina Canales Chapa, and her siblings Ruben Montano, Raul Montano, and Minerva Montano Segura. Her legacy is carried forward by her loving sons, Alberto Alejandro Loya and his wife Irma, and Adrian Loya and his wife Bertha. She was also a devoted grandmother to ten grandchildren, including Markie Palomarez, whom she raised as one of her own, and enjoyed the company of eleven great-grandchildren.

The family will honor Macrina's memory with a series of services, beginning with a Viewing on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of Faith, located at 2929 W. Expressway 83, Weslaco, TX 78599. The evening will include a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Weslaco, followed by interment at Weslaco City Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.

Macrina's life was a testament to love, strength, and dedication. Her enduring influence on her family and those close to her will be remembered with respect and admiration.
