Luis Rey Cardenas

Edinburg- Luis Rey Cardenas, 84, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at his residence in Edinburg, Texas.

Mr. Cardenas was born on August 25, 1940 to Benito Lopez and Mrs. Isidra Cardenas in McAllen, Texas.

Mrs. Cardenas is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Consuelo V. Cardenas; his sons, Luis Rey Cardenas Jr., Raul Cardenas, Luis P. Cardenas, Jose Luis Cardenas, Stancy Cardenas, Louis Cardenas; his daughters, Sara Bustos, Griselda Euceda, Maribel Palacios, Angie Cardenas, Amy Scotch; 23 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was known for being a devoted family man and hardworking soul whose strength and dedication left lasting impression on all who knew him. He was a proud father, husband, and grandfather and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren,

Had a deep love for history often be found with a book in hand, eager to knowledge, combine with his quiet wisdom, and strong values, made him someone people naturally turned to for guidance and support.

Friends and loved ones are welcome to attend and honor his life and legacy.

He will be remembered always for his love of family, his tireless work ethic, and his passion for learning. His presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Visitation for Mr. Luis Rey Cardenas is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 pm at Salinas Funeral Home- Chapel of the Angels in Elsa. A Chapel Service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 10:00 am at Salinas Funeral Home- Chapel of the Angels in Elsa. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.

Funeral Services have been entrusted to Salinas Funeral Home of Elsa.
