Laura was caring and loving, humble in spirit, and free-spirited in the way she moved through life. Soft-spoken and sweet, she had a natural way of drawing people to her. She was the kind of person who always cared for others and made sure they were okay, offering friendship, comfort, and kindness with sincerity. A woman of God, she carried her faith with quiet strength, and her love for family was at the center of who she was.

She loved life and embraced it with both style and joy. Laura loved to dress up and was known for her stylish presence, taking special delight in wearing her heels and finding treasures while antique shopping.

Laura loved riding with her husband, Felix. She enjoyed going on bike runs and trips with him, as well as traveling with him in his semi. Those adventures were a special part of her life and created memories that her family will always cherish.

Her home and heart were open to others, and she especially loved having family come over, gathering everyone together, and creating moments of closeness that will be remembered for years to come. She loved children and cherished the company of those around her.

Laura loved her children with all her heart, but she loved her grandchildren more than anything. Her family was her greatest treasure, and the love she had for her children and grandchildren was beyond words.

Laura was an inspiration to many throughout her life. She began her career in education as a teacher, where she dedicated herself to helping and inspiring her students. She later became a barber instructor, continuing her passion for teaching and mentoring others. All of her students loved and cared for her, and many of them still remember and cherish her to this day. The impact she made on her students' lives is a beautiful part of the legacy she leaves behind.

Laura was also blessed with a handful of very special friends whom she loved and adored dearly. These friendships meant so much to her, and the memories, laughter, and love they shared will forever remain a beautiful part of her life.

Laura is survived by her children, Alejandra Cavazos and her husband, Federico; Ramon Nonato Pena and his wife, Zaira; Ricardo Pena and his wife, Angelica; and Enrique Cavazos and his wife, Lindsey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Cavazos Jr.; her father, Jose Gil Rivera; her mother, Antonia Martinez Rivera; her sister, Loreto Gordiano; and her sister, Elena Maria Rivera.

Laura will be remembered for her gentle heart, her faithful spirit, her love of life, her strength, her devotion to her children and grandchildren, her dedication to her students, and the love she gave so generously. Her presence brought comfort, her friendship brought joy, and her family was the greatest treasure of her life.

Laura Maria Cavazos will be deeply missed, but she will never be forgotten. Her love, her laughter, her lessons, and the memories she gave so many will live on forever.

Funeral Services

Visitation for Laura will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of the Heavens, 2929 W. Expressway 83, Weslaco, Texas 78599.

A Rosary will be prayed that evening at 7:00 p.m. at the same location.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Weslaco.

Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, Texas.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco.
