On July 5, 2025, the world lost and Heaven gained an extraordinary soul. Our beloved mother, Juanita Valenzuela, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Born on May 18, 1941, Juanita lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. A devout servant of God, she dedicated countless hours to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church, where she volunteered in many capacities. For nearly 20 years, she was a devoted member of the Altar Society. She lovingly portrayed the Virgin Mary in an Easter skit alongside our father and supported San Juditas when it first became a mission in the 1970s. From the 1960s through the 1980s, Juanita could often be found in the church kitchen during Bingo night, preparing and selling delicious foods. For nearly 25 years, she also took pride in keeping San Martin Hall sparkling after Bingos and community events. Active and determined, Juanita never hesitated to help in any way she could.
Her culinary talents were legendary. Friends and family always looked forward to her meals, especially her chicken milanesa, hearty pozole, and her thin, crispy buñuelos-a treasured treat every Christmas and New Year's.
As a young girl, Juanita loved to dance and together with our father, they spent many weekends dancing with friends at social events and in Mexico.
Above all, family was the heart of her world. She would do anything for those she loved, always offering care, comfort, and support. From helping friends and relatives in need to cooking for Hidalgo County Head Start children for 20 years until her retirement, her kindness knew no bounds.
Left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy are her son, Jose Valenzuela; her five daughters, Martha Valenzuela, Patricia Carreon (Roel), Sylvia Valenzuela, Belinda Garcia (Rey), and Cristina Arevalo (Eduardo); three brothers, two sisters, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Juanita's life was a beautiful testament to faith, love, and generosity. While we will miss her deeply, we take comfort knowing she is now resting in eternal peace.
