It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt reflection that we announce the passing of Juan Montes, a cherished father and a gentle soul who graced our lives with his unwavering spirit. Juan was born on February 25, 1949, in Weslaco, Texas, where he would spend his life serving others and nurturing his beloved family. He departed this world peacefully on December 21, 2025, at the age of 76, leaving behind a rich legacy of love and resilience.
Juan embodied the values of hard work and commitment, both at home and at work. His compassionate nature and dedication to his work inspired those around him. As a father, he was the cornerstone of his family, guiding and supporting his children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Magdaleno Montes & Gregoria Martinez; his wife Rosita Reyes Montes; two sisters, Juanita Valenzuela & Maria Medeles.
Juan is survived by his five sons, Gerardo Montes (Patricia); Juan Jose Montes, Joshua D. Montes, Justin Montes (Yulissa), Jonathan Montes (Priscilla); three daughters, Leticia Montes (Jessie Herrera), Ivonne Hernandez (Luis Manuel), Adriana Montes; two brothers, Braulio Sanchez & Lazaro Sanchez. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren & 9 grandchildren.
Juan's passing leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warmth, wisdom, and humor will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends.
In honor of Juan's life, family and friends are invited to join us in celebrating his memory. A public viewing will be held at the Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of Grace on Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Rosary, allowing family and friends to come together and share stories of Juan's impactful life. A 10:00 AM Mass in his honor will take place on Monday, December 29, 2025, at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church, followed by his interment at the Weslaco City Cemetery.
As we gather to pay tribute to a life well-lived, we invite all who knew Juan to come and share in this moment of remembrance, love, and gratitude. His spirit will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us as we carry his legacy forward.
