Juan Casares Sr., beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, in Weslaco, Texas, one day after celebrating his 80th birthday. Born on July 13, 1946, in Mercedes, Texas, Juan’s life was marked by deep devotion to his family and unwavering strength of character that inspired all who knew him.
Throughout his eight decades, Juan’s presence was a constant source of comfort and stability. He carried with him the heritage of his upbringing in the Rio Grande Valley, rooted in hard work, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to those he held dear. The many friends and family members who were privileged to share in his life remember him as a man of integrity, kindness, and quiet wisdom.
Juan is survived by a loving family who remain grateful for the legacy he leaves behind: his sons, Juan Casares, Jr., Jose Manuel Casares (Chelly) and Guadalupe Casares (Maritza); his daughters Irene Sanchez (Juan), Milagros Perez (Roy), Reyna Casasres (Teo), and Erika Casares. His strength and guidance shaped their lives, providing a foundation of support and encouragement through all of life’s seasons. Also mourning his loss are his brothers, Guadalupe Ruiz and Manuel Ruiz, who shared in many of life’s journeys alongside him.
He will be reunited in eternal rest with those who preceded him in death: his cherished wife, Gloria Casares; his brother, Jose Ruiz; his mother, Eloisa Ruiz; and his sisters, Lydia Mendez and Rebecca Montemayor. Their memories together span countless cherished moments, and they will be remembered always within the hearts of their family.
To honor Juan Casares Sr.’s life and legacy, a series of services will be held at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco – Chapel of the Heavens, located at 2929 W. Expressway 83, Weslaco, Texas. A public viewing will take place on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., offering a time for friends and family to gather in remembrance. That same evening, a prayer service will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. On Thursday, July 16, 2026, funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Salinas Funeral Home Weslaco - Chapel of The Heavens, with interment to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Weslaco City Cemetery.
Juan Casares Sr. leaves behind a remarkable legacy of love, strength, and moral conviction. His impact endures within the lives of his children, siblings, and all those who knew him. As he is laid to rest, he is remembered with deep respect, heartfelt gratitude, and enduring affection.
