Jose "Ronco" Tamez Jr. passed away on June 29, 2026, in Mercedes, Texas, at the age of 58. He was born on May 2, 1968, in Weslaco, Texas, a place that marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey defined by love, dedication, and familial bonds.
Jose, affectionately known as "Ronco" by those who knew him best, was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was the husband of Juana Gonzalez. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Jose Tamez, III, Brenda Mae Tamez, and Brandy Jolene Ronca Tamez. His pride in his children was only matched by the affection he held for his grandchildren: Katrina Emily Tamez, Mary Jane Olalde, Mercedes Olalde, and his great-grandson, Xavier Lopez.
Family was at the very heart of Ronco's world. He was the devoted son of Jose Tamez and Maria Agapita Torres, and a caring sibling to Estanislado Tamez, Maria Celia Castaneda, Hermelinda Tamez, and Leticia Landeros. Though he now joins his sister Velia Tamez in rest, the love and memories he created with his family will linger as a lasting legacy.
Ronco's life was rooted in strong values and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. Kind, supportive, and generous, he was always ready with a helping hand or an encouraging word. The lessons he imparted to his children and grandchildren will echo for generations, shaping their character and guiding their paths forward.
While his physical presence will be deeply missed, Jose "Ronco" Tamez Jr.'s spirit endures in the hearts of his loved ones and in the communal fabric of Weslaco and Mercedes. His memory is one of warmth, resilience, and steadfast devotion to family.
He leaves behind a legacy enriched by compassion, loyalty, and the countless lives he touched. His family and friends grieve his passing but remain grateful for the years shared, the example set, and the love extended by such a remarkable man.
