WESLACO - Con profundo dolor y con el corazón lleno de amor, la familia Cruz comunica el fallecimiento de José Cruz, quien partió a la presencia del Señor el 9 de septiembre de 2025, rodeado de sus seres queridos en su hogar. Nació el 19 de marzo de 1951, en Miquihuana, Tamaulipas, hijo de Concepción y Juan Cruz.

José fue un hombre de principios firmes y un amor inquebrantable por su familia. En 1964, a la edad de 13 años, se unió en matrimonio con su amor y mejor amiga, Hermila, quien sería su compañera de toda la vida. Juntos, formaron una hermosa familia de diez hijos: cinco varones y cinco mujeres, a quienes amó profundamente y con quienes compartió enseñanzas de vida. Como padre, José fue un hombre estricto, protector y siempre comprometido con el bienestar y la formación de sus hijos. Los guiaba con amor, mostrándoles la importancia de trabajar duro, respetar a los demás y honrar nuestras raíces.

José enseñó a sus hijos a cuidar de los caballos y las gallinas, y a cazar venados, siempre con la frase "si es que les evito, es porque los quiero" en sus labios. Su presencia en la vida de cada uno de ellos fue un pilar fundamental, su amor y su sabiduría perdurarán por siempre.

Disfrutaba de los placeres sencillos de la vida, como los tacos de harina con frijoles sazonados que su esposa le preparaba para sus viajes a San Antonio, y de estar al aire libre en su rancho, donde se sentía más conectado con la naturaleza. El rancho de su querida Miquihuana, al que siempre llevaba a su esposa, fue su lugar favorito, un refugio de paz y de memorias compartidas.

José fue un hombre de fe, su creencia en Dios fue la luz que guió su vida y sus decisiones, orando todos los dias por sus hijos; y siempre leyendo su biblia. A lo largo de los años, su familia fue testigo de la fortaleza de su espíritu, siempre confiando en que Dios estaba al mando de cada situación. Peleó esta última batalla con la determinación y valentía de un gallo fino, rodeado del amor de su esposa, hijos, y demás seres queridos.

José Cruz vivirá por siempre en los corazones de aquellos que lo conocieron y lo amaron. Hoy, su familia lo despide con la certeza de que su legado perdurará, y que algún día se reunirán nuevamente en el reino de los cielos.

Le sobrevive con profundo dolor su esposa, Hermila; nueve hijos, Benito (Teodora) Cruz, Rigoberto (Isabel) Cruz, Mary (Raymundo) Osorio, Ericka (Gerardo) Osorio, Janet (Jose) Mendoza, Jose Santos (Nancy) Cruz, Brenda (Gustavo) Rodriguez, Jose (Teresa) Cruz, Yesenia (Pedro) Reyna; su mama, Concepcion Cruz; veintinueve nietos; 9 bisnietos, 6 hermanos/a; y muchos mas familiares y amigos.

Lo reciben en el cielo su papa, Juan Cruz; su hijo, Juan Cruz; y tres hermanos/a.

Una velacion se llevara acabo en Salinas Funeral Home en Weslaco el jueves, 11 de septiembre de 2025, de 4pm a 9pm con un rosario a las 7pm. Misa Catolica se llevara acabo en San Martin de Porres el viernes, 12 de septiembre de 2025, a las 12:30pm con entierro en Highland Memorial Park a las 2pm.

Los arreglos funerarios han sido encomendados a la Funeraria Salinas de Weslaco.

WESLACO - With deep sorrow and hearts full of love, the Cruz family announces the passing of José Cruz, who went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones at home. He was born on March 19, 1951, in Miquihuana, Tamaulipas, son of Concepción and Juan Cruz.

José was a man of strong principles and unwavering love for his family. In 1964, at just 13 years old, he married his love and best friend, Hermila, who would be his lifelong companion. Together, they built a beautiful family of ten children - five sons and five daughters - whom he loved deeply and to whom he passed down many life lessons.

As a father, José was strict, protective, and always committed to the well-being and upbringing of his children. He guided them with love, teaching the importance of hard work, respect for others, and honoring their roots.

He taught his children how to care for horses and chickens, and how to hunt deer - always with the phrase on his lips: "If I'm hard on you, it's because I love you." His presence in their lives was a cornerstone, and his love and wisdom will live on forever.

José enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, like the flour tortillas with seasoned beans that his wife lovingly prepared for his trips to San Antonio, and spending time outdoors at his ranch - a place where he felt most connected to nature. His beloved ranch in Miquihuana, where he often took his wife, was his favorite place - a peaceful refuge full of shared memories.

José was a man of deep faith. His belief in God was the light that guided his life and decisions. He prayed daily for his children and was often seen reading his Bible. Over the years, his family witnessed the strength of his spirit, always trusting that God was in control of every situation. He faced his final battle with the determination and courage of a gallo fino (a fine fighting rooster), surrounded by the love of his wife, children, and other loved ones.

José Cruz will live forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Today, his family bids him farewell with the certainty that his legacy will endure - and with faith that one day, they will be reunited in the kingdom of heaven.

He is survived with deep sorrow by his beloved wife, Hermila; nine children: Benito (Teodora) Cruz, Rigoberto (Isabel) Cruz, Mary (Raymundo) Osorio, Ericka (Gerardo) Osorio, Janet (Jose) Mendoza, Jose Santos (Nancy) Cruz, Brenda (Gustavo) Rodriguez, Jose (Teresa) Cruz, and Yesenia (Pedro) Reyna; his mother, Concepción Cruz; twenty-nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six siblings; and many more family members and friends.

He is welcomed into heaven by his father, Juan Cruz; his son, Juan Cruz; and three siblings.

A visitation will be held at Salinas Funeral Home in Weslaco on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a rosary at 7:00 PM. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated at San Martin de Porres on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 12:30 PM, followed by burial at Highland Memorial Park at 2:00 PM.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco.
