Jaime Zapata

January 25, 1951 — April 9, 2026

Edinburg- It is with profound sorrow yet enduring reverence that we announce the passing of Jaime Zapata, a cherished soul born on January 25, 1951, in the humble town of Weslaco, Texas, where he also took his final breath on April 9, 2026. Jaime's life was one marked by kindness, a welcoming spirit, and an ever-present humor that lit up the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.

A stalwart patriot, Jaime proudly served his country with valor in both the US Navy and Army during the Vietnam War and Golf War. His dedication to service underscored a lifelong commitment to honor and sacrifice, qualities that he carried into all facets of his existence.

Jaime will be remembered fondly for his warm personality, one that instantly put others at ease and brought comfort in times of need. He possessed a great sense of humor, a rare gift that brought laughter and light even amidst life's challenges. Above all, Jaime treasured the moments spent in the company of his family, finding joy and strength in these bonds.

He is mourned deeply by his beloved sons, Mark Anthony Zapata and Michael Andrew Zapata, who carry forward his legacy and spirit. His memory is also lovingly preserved by his brother Rene Zapata and sister Emeteria Sanchez-Farias, each of whom holds a special place in the tapestry of his life. The departed also reunites in eternity with his parents, Jose Angel Sanchez and Cristina Valdez Sanchez, whose influence and love shaped Jaime's journey from its earliest days.

Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the Salinas Funeral Home - Chapel of the Angels in Elsa, Texas, located at 304 E.
