Weslaco- Jacobo Gonzalez, a beloved son, brother, father, and friend, departed this world on February 13, 2026, at the young age of 29 in his hometown of Weslaco, Texas. Born on May 30, 1996, Jacobo embodied the spirit of kindness and warmth, always eager to share laughter and create cherished memories with his family.
Jacobo had an innate ability to make those around him feel at ease. His kind and welcoming demeanor drew people closer, and he approached life with a sense of humor that filled rooms with joy. Family was always at the center of his world, and he loved nothing more than spending time with them. Whether it was sharing a meal or simply enjoying each other's company, those moments were the highlights of his life.
He is survived by his loving family, including his devoted father Jaime Gonzalez and caring mother Sara Ruth Gonzalez. Jacobo took immense pride in being a father to his cherished daughter, Maya Gonzalez, whose bright future he believed in wholeheartedly. He will also be deeply missed by his brother Jaime Gonzalez and his sister, Jennifer (Pedro Vega) Gonzalez, both of whom held a special place in his heart. The warmth of love extended through generations, as Jacobo was the grandson of Maria Tienda and Maria Sara Torres de Valdez, who embraced him with unwavering support and affection. His niece, Kamila Vega, brought additional joy into his life, and he adored her innocence and spirit.
Jacobo was predeceased by two grandfathers, Manuel Gonzalez and Julio Alejandro Valdez, who have welcomed him with open arms in eternal rest. Their absence leaves a void that is felt deeply by all who knew Jacobo.
A series of heartfelt services will be held to honor Jacobo's memory. A viewing will take place on February 19, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of the Heavens. This will be followed by a prayer service starting at 6:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held the next day, February 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM, also at the same location. Afterward, family and friends will gather for a final interment at Highland Memorial Park at 2:00 PM.
As we remember Jacobo, let us carry forward his legacy of kindness and humor, allowing his spirit to guide us in our relationships and interactions with others. Though he may no longer walk among us, the love he shared and the laughter he spread will forever echo in our hearts.
