Irene Tamez

Apr 22, 1964 — Jun 4, 2026

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Irene Tamez, a cherished soul whose radiant kindness and unwavering dedication touched the lives of many. Born on April 22, 1964, in Elsa, Texas, Irene graced this world with her presence until her peaceful departure on June 4, 2026, in McAllen, Texas. Her life was a testament to the virtues of hard work, warmth, and enduring love.

Irene's professional journey was marked by remarkable commitment, as she dedicated thirty-nine years and a half of her life to Walmart, where her diligent efforts and welcoming nature left an indelible mark on colleagues and customers alike. But beyond her career, it was her infectious smile and generous spirit that defined her. Known for a great sense of humor and a heart brimming with love, she was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend-roles she embraced with grace and devotion.

Irene was a woman of deep and unwavering faith whose devotion to God guided her throughout her life. She faithfully served her parish community for many years at San Martin De Porres Catholic Church as a CCD teacher, where she lovingly shared her knowledge of the Catholic faith with countless children of all ages. Her dedication to nurturing the spiritual growth of young people left a lasting impact on generations of families. Irene also served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, carrying out this sacred ministry with reverence, compassion, and a servant's heart. Her commitment to her faith and her church community was a testament to the love and devotion she carried throughout her life.

She is survived by her beloved son Ricardo Cuellar and daughter Amanda Marie Cuellar, who carry forward her legacy of love and strength. Her mother, Mary Lou Tamez, remains a steadfast pillar of the family, alongside her brothers Manuel Tamez, III (Diana Garza) and Ricardo Tamez (Suzy). Irene's sisters, Beatriz Longoria (Pablo), Elvira Tamez, Amelia Martinez (with Ernest), and Diana Ortiz (with Adan), also cherish her memory deeply. Together, they celebrate a life rich in familial bonds and shared joys.

Irene is preceded in death by her father, Manuel Tamez, Jr., whose memory she held close to her heart throughout her life.
