Donna-With hearts full of love and memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Ignacio Carrizales Belmares on July 28, 2026. Born on February 2, 1927, in Matehuala, San Luis Potosi, Ignacio brought nearly a century of warmth, laughter, and cherished traditions to everyone blessed to know him.
Ignacio was a beacon of happiness within his family and community. His ever-present smile and joyful spirit lifted those around him in ways words can scarcely capture. His passion for life was clearly seen in the simplest pleasures: the anticipation found in buying scratch-offs, the glee of playing cards with friends, singing with unbridled enthusiasm, and relishing every opportunity to gather and play chalupa or attend lively bingos. Ignacio's happiness found its roots in these small, unforgettable moments, shaping a tapestry of joy that wove its way through his long and meaningful life.
Many will fondly remember seeing him with a cup of black coffee in hand, savoring the familiar taste of sardines or Vienna sausages with salted crackers a snapshot of the comforts he loved. Even in daily rituals, Ignacio celebrated life, and in doing so, taught those around him to appreciate every simple blessing.
Ignacio's legacy endures through his beloved family. He is survived by his loving daughter, Maria de la Luz Soto; his devoted son, Jesus Carrizales; and Cristina Carrizales. The joy he found in family extended deeply to his grandchildren 25 in number and numerous great-grandchildren, each of whom will carry his memory forward in their hearts. Ignacio's presence among his family was a wellspring of laughter, stories, guidance, and song, a gift they will cherish always.
He now joins in eternal rest his loving wife Higinia Carrizales, his father, Melquiades Carrizales Coronado, his mother, Juana Belmares Garcia, his sister, Ricarda Carrizales Belmares, as well as Maria Elena Carrizales Belmares and Severa Carrizales Belmares. The memory of their loving family circle offers comfort, even as those who remain mourn Ignacio's absence.
The Carrizales and Belmares family invites friends and loved ones to honor Ignacio's extraordinary life at the following services: A public viewing will be held Thursday, July 30, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of Grace, located at 2929 W. Expressway 83, Weslaco, TX 78599. A Rosary will also take place there at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, July 31, at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 306 S. Salinas Blvd., Donna, TX 78537, followed by interment at Donna City Cemetery.
Ignacio Carrizales Belmares lived a truly remarkable life, measured not only in years but in the immeasurable love and happiness he shared. While his song may have ended, its melody carries on-echoed in the laughter, bonds, and traditions he leaves behind.
