Mercedes- Hugo Melendez, a man whose kindness and warmth touched the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him, passed away on February 13, 2026, in Weslaco, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. Born on November 18, 1977, in Mexico, Hugo carried with him a spirit that embraced everyone around him, always making others feel at ease with his welcoming nature and great sense of humor.
As a devoted husband to his beloved wife Aide Gonzalez, Hugo exemplified the true meaning of partnership. His love for her was evident in every laugh shared and every moment spent together. He was a proud father to his two sons, Jose Angel Lopez and Francisco Xavier Ramirez, who were the apples of his eye. He instilled in them the same values of generosity, faith, and kindness that he lived by each day.
Hugo is remembered not only for his unwavering faith as a man of God but also for his giving heart. He was always there to lend a hand, whether to family, friends, or even strangers in need. His selflessness and dedication to helping others were unmatched, leaving a profound impact on those fortunate enough to have crossed his path.
He is survived by his loving father, Manuel Melendez Ramirez; his siblings, Jose Luis Melendez and Liliana Melendez; and his sister-in-law, Ana Laura Rodriguez, who held a special place in his heart. Additionally, Hugo cherished his relationship with his mother-in-law, Ma. Guadalupe Barreda, embracing her as part of his own family.
Hugo was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Irma Martinez; his brother, Juan Manuel Melendez; and his father-in-law, Santos Gonzalez. Their memories will forever be woven into the fabric of Hugo's life, fueling the love and compassion he radiated every day.
His laughter, spirit, and unwavering love will echo in the hearts of those he leaves behind. Hugo Melendez may have departed from this world, but his legacy of kindness, faith, and love will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends.
Visitation for Mr. Hugo Melendez is scheduled for Monday, February 16, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 6:00 pm at Salinas Funeral Home- Chapel of the Heavens in Weslaco. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am at Salinas Funeral Home- Chapel of the Heavens in Weslaco. Interment will follow at Mercedes Memorial Restlawn Cemetery.

Mercedes-Hugo Meléndez, un hombre cuya bondad y calidez conmovió a todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo, falleció el 13 de febrero de 2026 en Weslaco, Texas, dejando un legado de amor y compasión. Nacido el 18 de noviembre de 1977 en México, Hugo llevaba consigo un espíritu que abrazaba a todos a su alrededor, siempre haciendo que los demás se sintieran cómodos con su carácter acogedor y su gran sentido del humor.

Además, Hugo apreciaba la relación con su suegra, Doña Guadalupe Barreda, a la que consideraba parte de su familia.

El velatorio del Sr. Hugo Meléndez está programado para el lunes 16 de febrero de 2026, de 4:00 pm a 9:00 pm, con un servicio de oración a las 6:00 pm en la Funeraria Salinas - Capilla del Cielo, en Weslaco. El funeral se llevará a cabo a las 10:00 am en la Funeraria Salinas - Capilla del Cielo, en Weslaco. El entierro se realizará posteriormente en el Cementerio Mercedes Memorial Restlawn.
