Hector Leal Tamez

November 26, 1942 — February 2, 2026

Weslaco- Hector Leal Tamez, a cherished figure in the Weslaco community and beloved family man, passed away on February 2, 2026, in Harlingen, Texas. Born on November 26, 1942, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Hector dedicated his life to nurturing his family and building a successful restaurant business alongside his beloved wife, Maria Trinidad Moreno Leal.

As the proud owner of Sunrise Restaurant in Weslaco, Hector was known not only for his culinary contributions but also for his warm and welcoming demeanor. He greeted every customer with a smile, embodying the spirit of generosity and kindness. His serious nature was softened by the heart of gold that those close to him cherished, and he always approached interactions with patience and understanding.

Hector's life was filled with joyful memories, particularly family trips to Monterrey, Mexico, where laughter and love flourished among his family. He was a steadfast supporter of his children and grandchildren's dreams, always willing to lend an encouraging word or a helping hand. He found immense joy in treating his daughters to the mall, creating memories that would last a lifetime. His love for family was matched by his love for adventure; he delighted in exploring different cuisines and enjoyed spending time cruising in his truck down Business 83, all while soaked in the warm Texas sunshine.

Hector's proudest accomplishment was building Sunrise Restaurant from the ground up, a testament to his hard work and dedication. Through this venture, he created not only a thriving business but also a gathering place for friends and family to come together and share meals, laughter, and life's moments.

He leaves behind his loving children, Hector Leal Pena (Norma Alicia Velasquez), Ana E. Leal (Lewis Zuniga), Trinidad M. Leal (Chris J. Rios), and Karla J. Leal, who will forever treasure the lessons he taught and the love he shared. His legacy continues through his ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of his spirit in their hearts.

Hector is reunited in eternal peace with his beloved wife, Maria Trinidad Moreno Leal, his father, Jose Leal, his mother, Anita Tamez, and his brother, Mario Leal, who all preceded him in death.
