Guadalupe "Lupe" Garza

June 3, 1951 — February 4, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Guadalupe "Lupe" Garza, who departed this life peacefully on February 4, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on June 3, 1951, in Olton, Texas, Lupe lived a life that was rich in love, dedication, and service to his family and friends.

Lupe was a beloved husband to Maria Teresa Garza and their union of 50 years was a testament to enduring love, and Lupe's family was the center of his world. He was a great father, grandfather and friend.

A diligent worker, Lupe devoted 38 years to the Weslaco High School as a custodian, where he earned the respect and admiration of both students and faculty alike. His strong work ethic and commitment to excellence were apparent to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Benito Garza & Manuela Medelez; his son, Santiago Gallegos; his daughter, Griselda Gallegos; two brothers, Juan Garza, Bernardo Garza and one sister, Dora Hinojosa.

Lupe is survived by his wife, Maria Teresa Garza; his daughter, Terry Palomo (Ruben, Jr.) and one brother, Pedro Garza. Also surviving are his loving grandchildren Ruben W. Palomo, III (Aly), Moriah Gallegos, Melanie Gallegos, Mallory Gallegos and Anthony Gallegos; his great-grandchildren, Samuel J. Palomo and Aurora Mae Palomo.

He will be remembered not only for his dedication and hard work but also for his kind heart and warm spirit that touched many lives.

Friends and family are invited to honor Lupe's memory and celebrate his life at a public viewing that will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of the Heavens with a 7:00 PM Rosary.

A 10:00 AM Mass in his honor will be celebrated at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, followed by interment at Highland Memorial Park.

Lupe leaves a legacy of love and kindness that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He is deeply missed and will always be remembered with fondness and reverence. May he rest in eternal peace.
