Weslaco- Gilberto Castillo Garza, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, in Weslaco, Texas. Born on May 21, 1947, in Mexico, Gilberto was a man whose kindness and welcoming nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Always ready with a warm smile and a great sense of humor, he had a unique ability to make others feel at ease, enriching the lives of his family and friends with his genuine spirit.

Gilberto treasured spending time surrounded by those he loved most, cherishing every moment spent with his family. His presence was a guiding light and a source of comfort to many. His life was marked by his deep devotion to his wife, Raquel Castillo; his children-Gilberto (Sara) Castillo Jr., Luis Alberto (Araceli) Castillo, Valentin Castillo, and Zoraida Raquel (Cory) Cisneros; as well as his extended family who held him dearly close to their hearts.

He is survived by his loving wife, Raquel Castillo; his sons Gilberto Jr., Luis Alberto, and Valentin; his daughter Zoraida Raquel; daughter-in-law Belinda Castillo; devoted siblings Juan Castillo, San Juana Saldana and Maria Del Carmen Morales and a large and loving family of eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren who will continue to carry forward his legacy of warmth and humor.

Gilberto was preceded in death by his son Julian Castillo, his father Valentin Castillo, his mother Maria Garza Castillo, and his brothers Miguel Castillo, Martin Castillo, Matias Castillo, and Valentin Castillo, as well as his sister Adalia Luna. Their memories remain woven into the fabric of his life and the stories shared with family and friends.

A Viewing will be held on June 12, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of the Heavens, located at 2929 W. Expressway 83 in Weslaco, Texas. The evening will include a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., a time for reflection and collective remembrance.

On June 13, 2026, a Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at the same location, followed by Interment at 11:00 a.m. at the Weslaco City Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to say their final goodbyes and honor the remarkable life Gilberto led.

Gilberto Castillo Garza's legacy is one of boundless love and unfaltering kindness. His spirit endures in the hearts of all who knew him, a testament to a life dedicated to family, laughter, and genuine care. Nacido el 21 de mayo de 1947 en México, Gilberto fue un hombre cuya amabilidad y carácter acogedor dejaron una huella imborrable en todos los que lo conocieron. Siempre dispuesto a ofrecer una sonrisa cálida y con un gran sentido del humor, poseía una habilidad única para hacer que los demás se sintieran a gusto, enriqueciendo la vida de su familia y amigos con su espíritu genuino.

Expressway 83 en Weslaco, Texas. La velada incluirá el rezo del Rosario a las 7:00 p. m., un momento para la reflexión y el recuerdo compartido.
