With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Frances Free, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on May 3, 2025, at the age of 61. Frances was born on February 6, 1964, to Mr. Reynaldo Sarmiento and Mrs. Arcelia Garza Sarmiento who resided in Weslaco, Texas, where she cultivated deep roots in her community and family.
Frances was the embodiment of strength and compassion; she was a rock for her family, always there to offer her unconditional support and love. She had a passion for life that was evident in the joyful moments she shared with her loved ones. Whether it was dancing to her favorite tunes, engaging in spirited games of chance (maquinitas), or casting her line during fishing trips, Frances cherished every opportunity to create memories with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren.
Dedicated to helping others, Frances exhibited a generosity of spirit that touched the lives of many around her. Her vibrant personality radiated warmth, and her favorite color, emerald green, symbolized the life and love she brought into the world.
Frances is survived by her devoted husband, Major Free Jr., whose love for her was boundless. Together, they created a beautiful life filled with laughter and cherished moments.Also surviving her are her two sons, Major Love Free (I'dasha Sorrell), and Justice Love Free, her daughters Cynthia Villarreal and Cristina Villarreal, her brother Reynaldo Sarmiento Jr., her sisters Leticia Sarmiento Rocha and Araceli Sauceda, 10 grandchildren and 1 great granchild.
Visitation for Frances Free is scheduled for Wednesday, May 07,2025 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco- Chapel of Grace.Following the ceremonial tributes, Frances will be cremated at a later date as she embarks on her final journey.
As we gather to celebrate her life, let us carry forward the love and kindness she so generously shared. In memory of Frances Free, may we honor her spirit by holding our families close and helping those in need, just as she did.
