Evangelina L. Rios

August 16, 1947 — February 27, 2026

With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of a remarkable woman whose love and strength touched everyone she met. Evangelina "Eva" Lozano Rios, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on February 27th, 2026.

Many know her from her numerous years at Monte Carlo and Dairy Queen in Donna and later Keno's Restaurant in Weslaco, but many more know her as the owner of Fast Track in Edcouch-Elsa. Through her business, she served not just customers but the entire community. She inspired countless people to do better with their lives, even if she was straightforward with her words. As a community member, she helped raise generations of children by making sure they were fed, but also teaching life skills and discipline. Her legacy lives on in each one of our lives, from the lessons she taught us to the love she gave us freely. She showed us the power of kindness, strength, and standing firm in who you are.

She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always cherished.

She is survived by her son, Natividad Mejia, her daughter-in-law, Virginia Mejia, her granddaughter, and her husband, Victorianna Mejia and Jordan McEnaney. Also surviving are her sisters, Rosa Idalia Salinas, Maria Angelita Sustaita, Josefina Clover (Dennis Clover), and her brothers, Reymundo Rios and Rolando Rios, with numerous nieces and nephews. Lastly, she survived by the community of Edcouch-Elsa and Donna, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Natividad Rios and Victoriana Lozano Rios, her sister, Guadualupe Rios, and her brothers Ricardo Rios, Rafael Rios, and Ramino Rios.

The community and loved ones will gather to honor Evangelina's life and legacy. A viewing will be held from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of The Heavens with a 6:00 PM Rosary. A 10:00 AM Mass in her honor is scheduled for Friday, March 6, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Donna, TX, where her spirit will be celebrated through prayer and remembrance.
