Esther Castillo

Esther Castillo, a beacon of unwavering strength and boundless devotion, passed away peacefully at her residence on May 31, 2026. Born March 16, 1940, in the vibrant city of Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Esther's life was a testament to enduring faith, profound love, and an unshakable commitment to family.

She was a woman of resolute spirit, grounded in a strong faith in God that sustained her through all seasons of life. Her love for her children and grandchildren was the cornerstone of her existence-one could always find in her a heart full of warmth, generosity, and encouragement. Esther's family-oriented nature made her home a sanctuary where love and togetherness flourished.

Her legacy lives on through her beloved sons, Ernesto Castillo and Leonardo Castillo Jr.; her cherished daughters, Martha Castillo, Rafaela Castillo, Gloria Leyba, Celia Castillo, and Norma Arreola; as well as her devoted sisters, Lucia Cuellar, Rosalinda Cuellar, Juana Cuellar, and Julia Cuellar. Surrounding them is the joy brought forth by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whose lives she touched deeply.

Esther's family mourns the loss of her beloved husband, Leonardo Castillo; her daughter, Maria Castillo; and her brother, Polo Cuellar, who have gone before her. Though they are no longer with us, their memories are lovingly held in the hearts of all who knew this remarkable woman.

A viewing to honor Esther's memory will be held on June 3, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of the Heavens, located at 2929 W. Expressway 83, Weslaco, TX 78599. This will be followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM until 7:45 PM in the same chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 10:00 AM on June 4, 2026, at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Weslaco, TX, concluding at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place immediately thereafter at Anahuac Community Cemetery.

Esther Castillo's life was a radiant reflection of love, faith, and familial devotion. Her presence enriched the lives of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark that will forever endure in the hearts of her family and community. As we bid farewell, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that now rests in eternal peace.

Esther Castillo, un ejemplo de fortaleza inquebrantable y devoción sin límites, falleció pacíficamente en su residencia el 31 de mayo de 2026. Nació el 16 de marzo de 1940 en la vibrante ciudad de Matamoros, Tamaulipas. La vida de Esther fue un testimonio de fe perdurable, amor profundo y un compromiso inquebrantable con su familia.

Fue una mujer de espíritu firme, sustentada por una profunda fe en Dios que la acompañó durante todas las etapas de su vida. El amor por sus hijos y nietos fue la piedra angular de su existencia; en ella siempre se encontraba un corazón lleno de calidez, generosidad y aliento. Su naturaleza orientada a la familia convirtió su hogar en un refugio donde el amor y la unión florecían constantemente.

Su legado continúa a través de sus amados hijos, Ernesto Castillo y Leonardo Castillo Jr.; sus queridas hijas, Martha Castillo, Rafaela Castillo, Gloria Leyba, Celia Castillo y Norma Arreola; así como sus devotas hermanas, Lucía Cuellar, Rosalinda Cuellar, Juana Cuellar y Julia Cuellar. También deja el inmenso amor y alegría de numerosos nietos y bisnietos, cuyas vidas fueron profundamente tocadas por su cariño y ejemplo.

La familia de Esther lamenta profundamente la pérdida de su amado esposo, Leonardo Castillo; de su hija, María Castillo; y de su hermano, Polo Cuellar, quienes la precedieron en la muerte. Aunque ya no están físicamente con nosotros, sus recuerdos permanecen vivos en los corazones de todos aquellos que conocieron y amaron a esta extraordinaria mujer.

La velación en honor a la memoria de Esther se llevará a cabo el 3 de junio de 2026, de 4:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m., en la Capilla de Los Cielos de Salinas Funeral Home en Weslaco, ubicada en 2929 W. Expressway 83, Weslaco, Texas 78599. Posteriormente, se rezará el Santo Rosario de 7:00 p.m. a 7:45 p.m. en la misma capilla.

La Misa de Exequias Cristianas se celebrará el 4 de junio de 2026 a las 10:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica San Martín de Porres en Weslaco, Texas, concluyendo a las 11:00 a.m. Al finalizar la misa, se realizará el sepelio en el Cementerio Comunitario Anáhuac.

La vida de Esther Castillo fue un reflejo radiante de amor, fe y dedicación familiar. Su presencia enriqueció la vida de todos aquellos que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla, dejando una huella imborrable que perdurará para siempre en los corazones de su familia y de su comunidad.
