Ester C. Hernandez

Weslaco- Ester C. Hernandez, of Weslaco, Texas, passed away on October 25, 2026, in Weslaco at the age of 89. She was born on December 25, 1936, in Weslaco, a place she called home throughout her life.

Ester will be remembered as a loving and kind woman whose life was centered on caring for those around her. She was a loving mother, always worried about others and finding ways to comfort them. Her care was often expressed through her cooking, a gift that brought family together and made others feel welcome and loved. She was also a God-fearing lady whose faith was part of the example she gave to her family and all who knew her.

She leaves behind a family who will carry her memory forward with deep love. Ester is survived by her sons, Adelaido (Guadalupe) Hernandez, Francisco Hernandez, Joe Hernandez, Jesus Hernandez, and Rene (Esmeralda Rodriguez) Hernandez, and by her daughter, Rosalee (Eliljio Molina) Hernandez. She is also survived by her brother, Jose Cortez, and her sisters, Mercedes Cortez and Pomposa Cortez. The love she gave as a mother, sister, and presence in the lives of those around her will remain a lasting blessing to her family.

She was preceded in death by her sons Cecil Hernandez, Guadalupe Hernandez, Adolfo Hernandez, and Narciso Hernandez; by her daughters Mary Ann Lopez and Beatrice Hernandez; by her brothers Vare Cortez, Pedro Cortez, Maximino Cortez, and Juan Cortez; and by her sisters Maria Cortez and Pauline Cortez. Their memories remained part of her life and are now reunited with hers in eternal peace.

Family and friends are invited to honor Ester's life during a public viewing on October 30, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of Grace, 2929 W. Expressway 83, Weslaco, TX 78599. A rosary will be held the same evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of Grace.

Ester C. Hernandez will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered for her gentle heart, her faithful spirit, and the steady love she gave so freely. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
