Elvira Hinojosa Sanchez was born on February 25, 1946, in Brownsville, Texas, to Othon and Evelia Hinojosa. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fernando Sanchez Jr., with whom she shared over 56 years of marriage. Elvira lovingly referred to herself-largely because she disliked her first name-as Mrs. F. Sanchez Jr. After her husband's passing in March 2025, Mrs. Sanchez struggled to find her way without him. Today, they are reunited in the loving arms of the Lord.
Mrs. Elvira H. Sanchez was also preceded in death by her sisters Adela Martinez, Lydia King, and Marcela Luna, and her brothers Guadalupe Hinojosa, Jose Angel Hinojosa, and Polo Hinojosa.
She leaves behind her grieving children and their families: Fernando E. Sanchez (Janie and Lorena Sanchez);Ashley Morales (Mario, Marcus, and Katelyn); Aria Aguilar;Jenny Sanchez (Christian, Anthony, Allison, and Aiden Garcia);Victoria Sanchez) Melissa West (Joseph West Jr.); Claudia Sanchez (Damian, Marian, Cora, Alexander, Chloe, Cameron, and Caralin Bennett); and Monica Fernandez (Jesse, Allegra, and Benicio Fernandez).
She is also survived by her brother and sisters, Ana Mendez, Joe Hinojosa, and Evelia Guajardo, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and her cherished Kingdom Hall family.
Mrs. Sanchez-lovingly known as 'Sister Sanchez' by her congregation-was a devoted Jehovah's Witness for over 50 years. She dedicated her life to serving Jehovah and took great pride in sharing His name with all who would listen. She will be remembered for her faithful service to God and her feisty, vibrant personality.
Elvira loved jewelry, makeup, clothes, and shoes as she always enjoyed dressing up. Gardening was another passion of hers, and she spent countless hours tending to her fruit trees and plants. She especially loved sitting outsidein her rocking chair enjoying the tropical weather. Elvira cherished South Padre,'the island' a place she held dear to her heart and always wished to be her final resting place.
