San Juan- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elio Chavez, a beloved husband, father, friend, and passionate soul, who left this world on March 21, 2026, at the age of 70. Elio spent his life in San Juan, Texas, where he was known for his generous spirit, exceptional carpentry skills, and love for the outdoors, especially fishing.
Elio preceded preceeded in death by his parents Victoriano and Florinda Chavez. He is survived by: his wife Yolanda Chavez; his children Adan Chavez, Elio Chavez Jr., Marisol Medina (Oscar) , Jose Alfredo Chavez,Eduardo Chavez (Amanda Flores), Hersilia Torres (Angel Torres), Jose Chavez (Jessica), Ana Lopez; 21 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
Elio's hands were never idle; he found joy in building and creating, embodying a passion that inspired everyone around him. He was a true craftsman who took pride in every project he undertook, always eager to share his knowledge and skills with family and friends.
To honor and celebrate the life of Elio Chavez, a viewing will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of the Heavens in Weslaco, Texas. The Rosary service will occur at the same location from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026, A Mass will be celebrated at St John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan, Texas, beginning at 2:00 p.m on Friday, March 27, 2026. Thereafter, Elio will be laid to rest at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna, Texas, at 3:00 p.m.
As we say goodbye to a wonderful man who gave so much to those around him, we remember his laughter, his projects, and his unwavering love of life. May he rest in peace.
