Weslaco- Elida M. Acevedo, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was born on June 14, 1934, in Weslaco, Texas. She graced this world with her warmth and compassion until her peaceful passing on March 6, 2026, in the same town that saw the beginning of her remarkable journey.
Kind and welcoming, Elida had a unique ability to put others at ease. Her laughter was infectious, and her great sense of humor brought joy to those around her, creating bonds that would last a lifetime. She cherished every moment spent with her family and friends, and her heart overflowed with love for them.
Elida is survived by her devoted daughters: Idolina M. Vasquez, Berta Alicia Sosa, Manuela Padilla (Ramiro), Diana A. Rocha, and Flor S. Arce (Davie). She was a proud grandmother to 16 grandchildren and delighted in the blessings of her numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her legacy of kindness and love.
She is also mourned by her loving sisters, Bella Nira Guerra and Guillermina Ramos, who shared in both her laughter and her sorrows. Together, they created a tapestry of family bonds that will forever endure.
Elida was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Silvestre Acevedo Jr., who undoubtedly awaits her in the peace of eternity. She is also reunited with her granddaughter Yesenia Vasquez and her beloved siblings, Jose Angel Moreno and Rufina Maldonado, all of whom were blessed to share in her life and love.
As we celebrate the beautiful life of Elida M. Acevedo, we remember her as a beacon of light, a source of comfort, and an everlasting presence in our hearts. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and humor that will forever inspire those fortunate enough to have known her.
