David Coronado, Jr.

December 6, 1967 — April 1, 2026

It is with a heavy heart that we mark the passing of a dedicated warrior. David Coronado Jr., 58, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 6:33 PM in the evening surrounded by family at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas.

A proud Marine from his head to his toes, David served in the United States Marines for four years and was stationed in Camp Lejeune, NC and 29 Palma, CA and one tour to Thailand before embarking on a career in criminal justice. David started working at the Texas Department of Corrections, Intuitional Division for Seven years. He then trained as an OSHA inspector and 1st Aid CPR Instructor. He started doing trainings for child day cares centers and assisted in opening approximately forty day cares thought-out the Rio Grand Valley. David's determination and discipline and commitment to learning reflected the values that guided him throughout his life. He believed in the importance of knowledge, hard work , perseverance, and these principles shaped both his personal and professional journey.

His hard work was not only a source of accomplishment but also a foundation for the wisdom he shared with those around him. David was devoted to teaching others what it was to be a first responder's duty to everyone, and he understood the importance of helping others around him to build confidence in their abilities. David took a lot of pride in guiding them toward success.

Above all else, David was a devoted to his family. He is preceded in death by his father, David Coronado, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Maria Perla Ramirez; two sons, David Coronado III (Chad Mercado), Adrian Guadalupe Coronado (Cathy Weaver Coronado); one daughter, Alissa Leeann Coronado; his mother, Gloria Coronado ( Cipriano Herrera); one brother, Richard Coronado (Melissa); two sisters, Virginia Coronado Salazar (Eduardo) and Elizabeth Coronado (Erick Buckner). Also surviving are two granddaughters, Haylee Linette Coronado and Laynee Lynn Coronado.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with Military Honors (21-Gun Salute) at 6:00 PM and a 7:00 PM Rosary at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of The Heavens. A 10:00 AM Holy Mass will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.

As per his wishes, Mr. Coronado will be cremated at a later date.

David will be remembered not only for his accomplishments, but also for the character he demonstrated each day through his humility, integrity, and devotion to others.

May he be remembered with gratitude and love, and may his life serve as a lasting example of intelligence, wisdom and quiet grace.

Services have been entrusted to Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco.
