Cristina Lara, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, in Alamo, Texas. Born on July 24, 1951, in Matehuala San Luis Potosi, Mexico, Cristina's life was marked by an enduring warmth and devotion to her family that touched all who knew her.

With a beautiful smile that never faded, Cristina had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcome and cared for. Her home was a sanctuary of love and kindness where family and friends always found comfort and support. She loved her family dearly and devoted herself selflessly to their happiness and well-being.

She was first and foremost a loving mother to her nine children: Alfonso Lara (Yesenia), Ramiro Lara (Maria Del Rocio), Jose Andres Lara (Christina+), Jose Luis Lara (Belinda), Ernesto Lara (Erica), Margarita Lara, Leticia Lara Alonso (Manuel), Lucina Lara-Garza (Juan C.), and Christina Gonzalez (Victor Hugo). Her legacy is carried on through her 31 cherished grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to her life.

Cristina also held dear the bonds she shared with her brothers-Dario Martinez and Miguel Martinez-bringing familial love and laughter to every gathering. Her roots ran deep, born to her parents, Jose Andres Martinez and Lucina Cruz Martinez, who preceded her in death, along with her brothers Gerardo Martinez and Jose Luis Martinez.

The family will honor Cristina's memory with services at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of the Heavens, located at 2929 W. Expressway 83, Weslaco, TX 78599. A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a prayer service from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM that same evening. Her funeral service will take place on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Salinas Funeral Home Weslaco - Chapel of The Heavens with interment to follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 1:00 PM.

Cristina's gentle spirit, her unwavering love, and her radiant smile remain forever imprinted on the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Though we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life beautifully lived-a life that enriched the world through the simple, profound gift of love. Her memory will live on in her family and the countless lives she touched.

Cristina Lara, amada madre, hija, hermana, abuela y bisabuela, falleció pacíficamente el 31 de mayo de 2026 en Alamo, Texas. Nació el 24 de julio de 1951 en Matehuala, San Luis Potosí, México. La vida de Cristina estuvo marcada por su calidez, su devoción inquebrantable y el profundo amor que sentía por su familia, dejando una huella imborrable en todos aquellos que tuvieron la dicha de conocerla.

Con una hermosa sonrisa que nunca se desvanecía, Cristina tenía el don de hacer que todos se sintieran bienvenidos y apreciados. Su hogar era un refugio de amor, bondad y unión familiar, donde familiares y amigos siempre encontraban consuelo, apoyo y palabras de aliento. Dedicó su vida de manera desinteresada a la felicidad y el bienestar de sus seres queridos.

Su legado continúa a través de sus 31 queridos nietos y 23 bisnietos, quienes fueron una fuente inmensa de alegría y orgullo en su vida.

Cristina también atesoró profundamente el vínculo que compartía con sus hermanos, Darío Martínez y Miguel Martínez, quienes llenaron su vida de amor familiar y momentos inolvidables. Fue precedida en la muerte por sus padres, José Andrés Martínez y Lucina Cruz Martínez, así como por sus hermanos, Gerardo Martínez y José Luis Martínez.

La familia honrará la memoria de Cristina con servicios funerarios en la Funeraria Salinas de Weslaco- Capilla de Los Cielos. La velación se llevará a cabo el jueves 4 de junio de 2026, de 3:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m., con un Servicio de Oración de 7:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m. El Servicio Funeral se celebrará el viernes 5 de junio de 2026 a las 12:00 p.m. en la Funeraria Salinas de Weslaco - Capilla de Los Cielos. El sepelio se llevará a cabo a la 1:00 p.m. en el Cementerio Val Verde Memorial Gardens.

El espíritu bondadoso de Cristina, su sonrisa radiante y su amor incondicional permanecerán para siempre grabados en el corazón de todos aquellos que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla. Aunque hoy lloramos su partida, también celebramos una vida bellamente vivida, una vida que enriqueció al mundo a través del sencillo pero profundo regalo del amor.
