Donna- Catalina Reyna was born on June 20, 1952, in Donna, Texas, and passed away on April 23, 2026, surrounded by the deep love of her family. Catalina spent her entire life in Donna, Texas, where she built a life filled with love, friendship, and lasting memories.
Catalina lived a life rooted in love, laughter, and devotion to those around her. She was famously known for her love of garage sales and collecting, finding joy in the simplest treasures and turning ordinary moments into something special. She had a beautiful way of making people feel seen and valued, and she formed lasting bonds everywhere she went. To so many, she was more than a friend, she was family. She extended love to many who considered her a second mother. She would often give away her trinkets and cherished possessions to anyone who admired them, a reflection of her generous and selfless heart. Her humor, warmth, and lively spirit could brighten even the heaviest days.
Throughout her years-long battle with cancer, Catalina remained positive and kind to those around her. She made friends everywhere she went and formed lasting friendships at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her caring nature and willingness to connect with others left a lasting impression. Her faith in God, her Savior, remained an important part of her life.
She is survived by her loving sister, Irma Alvarez Padron (Benny); her children, Clarissa Reyna and Maximo "Max" Mendiola; her beloved grandchildren, Kassandra Martinez, Jackie Renee Ramos, and Marcos Saenz; her treasured great-granddaughter, Kierra Perez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Luis Cortez and Viola Pina Cortez; her siblings, Raphaela Guajardo (Erasmo), Maria Luisa Rodriguez, Francisca Sosa (Raul), Oscar Cortez, Jesus Cortez, and Jose Cortez; and her nieces, Liza Tobias and Viviana Guajardo.
Catalina's life was a gift to all who knew her. Her love, her laughter, and her unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and never forgotten.
As per her wishes, she will be cremated at a later date and laid to rest at a later date.
