Mercedes-Carlos Castillo Sr., a beloved father, husband, and friend known for his kind and welcoming spirit, passed away peacefully at his residence on May 8, 2026. Born on January 20, 1956, in Weslaco, Texas, Carlos remained deeply connected to the community where he spent his life.

Carlos's gentle nature and open heart touched many throughout his life. He was a man who embraced those around him with warmth, offering kindness and hospitality without hesitation. His legacy is carried on by the countless individuals whose lives he impacted so profoundly.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Sonia de Castillo. His children: sons Carlos (Ofelia) Castillo Jr., Christopher Castillo, and Eduardo Castillo; daughters Nancy Castillo and Zonia Castillo. His family further extends to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each carrying forward his memory and values.

Carlos was preceded in death by both his parents, Pablo Castillo and Sonia Garza Castillo, who laid the foundation of the family he cherished so dearly. He also mourns the loss of his son, Cesar Castillo, whose memory remains closely held in the hearts of the family.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Carlos Castillo Sr.'s life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of Grace, located at 2929 W. Expressway 83, Weslaco, TX 78599. This gathering will offer the opportunity for family, friends, and community members to come together to reflect on and commemorate his enduring influence and presence.
