Weslaco-Blas Garza, a beloved patriarch, devoted family man, and respected member of the community, passed away on October 20, 2025, at DHR Hospice. He was born on December 23, 1953, in Eijido Buena Vista, Mexico, and spent his life touching the hearts of everyone who had the honor of knowing him.

From the very beginning, Blas dedicated his life to his family. A loving husband to his wife, Maria Guadalupe Saldana, he forged a bond filled with warmth and affection that stood as a testament to enduring love. Blas was the proud father of two sons, Blas (Angelica) Garza and Baldemar (Cindy) Garza, and two daughters, Berenice Garza (Ernesto Berraza) and Brenda Garza. He approached fatherhood with an affectionate spirit, treating his children with kindness and nurturing their dreams.

As a grandfather to 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, he became a source of joy and wisdom, embracing each moment with his younger kin as if they were his own. His legacy lives on in the laughter and memories shared, as he played a pivotal role in shaping their lives with love and care that resonated deeply within their hearts.

Blas was a hard worker, earning the respect and admiration of many. His dedication extended beyond his immediate family; he was a cherished figure in the community, recognized for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to those around him. He treated everyone with dignity, and his warmth and kindness left a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.

A lover of sports, Blas found joy in watching football on Sundays, forever loyal to his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He also relished the excitement of baseball, cheering passionately for the Houston Astros. These moments spent cheering for his teams became cherished memories he shared with family and friends alike.

He is survived by his beloved wife, children, brothers Francisco Garza and Juan Garza, and sisters Dora Irma Garza Rivas and Paula Elia Garza, alongside his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his spirit of love and unity. Blas joins his deceased loved ones, including his parents and his brother Gilberto Garza, in eternal peace.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Blas' life with a viewing on October 24, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of the Heavens. A Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM. A Mass dedicated to his life will occur on October 25, 2025, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Weslaco, starting at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Sacred Park Cemetery.

As we bid farewell to Blas Garza, we remember a man whose life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and respect-a man who understood the meaning of family. He will be deeply missed but forever celebrated in the hearts of those who loved him.

Weslaco - Blas Garza, un querido patriarca, devoto hombre de familia y respetado miembro de la comunidad, falleció el 20 de octubre de 2025 en DHR Hospice. Nació el 23 de diciembre de 1953 en el Ejido Buena Vista, México, y dedicó su vida a tocar los corazones de todos aquellos que tuvieron el honor de conocerlo.

Desde muy joven, Blas dedicó su vida a su familia. Amoroso esposo de su esposa, María Guadalupe Saldaña, forjaron un vínculo lleno de cariño y afecto que se convirtió en un verdadero testamento de amor duradero. Blas fue el orgulloso padre de dos hijos, Blas (Angélica) Garza y Baldemar (Cindy) Garza, y de dos hijas, Berenice Garza (Ernesto Berraza) y Brenda Garza. Abordó la paternidad con un espíritu afectuoso, tratando a sus hijos con ternura y fomentando siempre sus sueños.

Como abuelo de 16 nietos y cinco bisnietos, fue una fuente de alegría y sabiduría, disfrutando cada momento con los más pequeños como si fueran sus propios hijos. Su legado vive en las risas y recuerdos compartidos, pues desempeñó un papel fundamental en la formación de sus vidas con un amor y cuidado que resonarán siempre en sus corazones.

Amante del deporte, Blas encontraba alegría viendo el fútbol americano los domingos, siendo siempre fiel a su querido equipo, los Dallas Cowboys. También disfrutaba con entusiasmo el béisbol, animando apasionadamente a los Houston Astros. Estos momentos de emoción compartidos con familiares y amigos se convirtieron en recuerdos inolvidables.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa, sus hijos, sus hermanos Francisco Garza y Juan Garza, y sus hermanas Dora Irma Garza Rivas y Paula Elia Garza, además de sus nietos y bisnietos, quienes continuarán llevando en alto su espíritu de amor y unidad. Blas se reúne en la paz eterna con sus seres queridos fallecidos, incluidos sus padres y su hermano Gilberto Garza.

Familiares y amigos están invitados a celebrar la vida de Blas Garza con una velación el 24 de octubre de 2025, de 2:00 PM a 9:00 PM, en Salinas Funeral Home de Weslaco - Capilla de los Cielos. El Santo Rosario se rezará a las 7:00 PM. La Misa en su honor se llevará a cabo el 25 de octubre de 2025 en la Iglesia Católica St. Joan of Arc de Weslaco, a partir de las 10:00 AM, seguida del sepelio en el Cementerio Sacred Park.
