Donna-Bella Idalia Cortez, a beacon of love and warmth, has departed this world peacefully at her residence on February 11, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on December 4, 1947, in Edinburg, Texas, Bella embraced life with an incomparable zest, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
For 59 beautiful years, Bella was the beloved wife of Adolfo Cortez, with whom she built a life rich in compassion and joy. Together, they nurtured a close-knit family that she cherished deeply. Her heart was anchored in her role as a mother to her sons, Mario Cortez, Antonio (Sylvia) Cortez, Adolfo Cortez, and Carlos (Erlinda) Cortez, as well as her daughters, Diana Cortez, Monica (PJ) Saenz, and Olivia (Blue) Cortez. The legacy of her big heart lives on through her numerous grandchildren, who will forever carry cherished memories of her loving spirit.
Bella's personality radiated warmth and kindness; she was funny, loving, and caring, always making others feel welcomed and valued. She had a natural gift for bringing people together, and her world revolved around her beloved husband and children. The aroma of Pinesol often greeted her family as they entered her home, a testament to her passion for cleaning, cooking and ensuring a loving environment. Bella's affection extended to decorating her home beautifully, tending to her garden, and attending to her plants, reflecting the vibrant life she led.
She enjoyed indulging in self-care, believing that it was essential to look and feel one's best, which included regular visits for her manicures and hair appointments. Her adventurous spirit and love for life were evident in the joy she found in every moment spent with her loved ones.
Bella will be remembered not only for her nurturing heart but also for the unwavering strength she demonstrated throughout her life. She is survived by her loving husband, children, brother Martin Aguilar, and sisters Amelia, Rosa, Guadalupe Aguilar, and Anna Martinez, alongside her grandchildren who treasured their time with her.
As we gather to honor her memory, we will celebrate the profound impact Bella had on our lives. A Viewing will take place on Friday,February 13, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM at the Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of the Heavens. A Funeral Service will follow the next day, February 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM, with her interment at Val Verde Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
In our hearts, Bella will forever live on as a symbol of love and resilience, reminding us of the beauty of nurturing bonds and the joy that comes from being there for one another. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, warmth, and unconditional love that will continue to inspire her family for generations to come.
