Weslaco- Bacilio Castillo, a cherished husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away on February 3, 2026, at Knapp Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion that will forever be etched in the hearts of his family and friends. Born on March 1, 1952, in San Juan, Texas, Bacilio filled the world with his warmth and caring spirit, touching the lives of many throughout his remarkable journey.
A loving family man, Bacilio dedicated himself entirely to those he loved. His devotion to his wife, Ruth Castillo, was profound, marking a partnership built on faith, mutual respect, and unwavering support. Together, they nurtured a home filled with laughter and love, fostering a close-knit family that thrived on togetherness.
Bacilio took immense pride in being a father to his son, Bacilio Domingo (Alyssa) Castillo. He embraced the role of dad wholeheartedly, teaching life lessons and sharing precious moments that would shape the character of his son and instill values that would pass down through generations. Bacilio's heart expanded even more with the arrival of his beloved grandbabies, Kara Angela, Kalev Luke, and Callie Ariel Castillo, who became the sparkle in his eye. He loved them more than anything and cherished every opportunity to spoil them with affection and wisdom.
His personality shone through in every aspect of his life. Bacilio was a hardworking and righteous man who took pride in providing for his family. He was not only a skilled handyman capable of fixing anything around the house, but he also enjoyed the simple pleasures in life-watching the Dallas Cowboys play or indulging in classic western films, which brought him joy and provided moments of relaxation.
Faith was the cornerstone of Bacilio's existence. He was a deeply spiritual man who found solace and strength in his relationship with God. His passion for attending church services and immersing himself in the word of God reflected a commitment to a higher calling, inspiring those around him to embrace their own spirituality.
Bacilio is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Ruth; their son, Bacilio Domingo (Alyssa) Castillo; brothers Juan D. Castillo, Jose Angel Castillo, Heraclio Castillo Jr., Genaro Castillo, and Manuel Castillo; sister Diana Pequeno; numerous nieces and nephews; and of course, his adored grandbabies. These family members, along with many friends, mourn his passing but find comfort in the cherished memories they shared with him.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Eraclio Castillo and Angelita Castillo, whose guidance and nurturing helped shape the man he became.
A Visitation to honor Bacilio will be held on February 10, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Pave the Way Ministries (301 Vogel Dr, Mercedes, TX 78570). Additionally, a prayer service will take place on the same day from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Pave the Way Ministries.
Bacilio Castillo's life was a testament to what it means to love unconditionally and live with purpose. His warmth, his spirit of generosity, and the lessons of kindness he left behind will continue to inspire and guide those he touched.
