Aurora Tafolla

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Aurora M. Tafolla, cherished mother, grandmother, and devoted wife, who left this world peacefully on April 7, 2025, at the age of 89 in Weslaco, Texas. Born on August 24, 1935, Aurora lived a life rooted in faith and love, embodying the true spirit of a God-fearing woman.

Aurora was a guiding light for her family, having spent 67 loving years married to her devoted husband. Her nurturing nature shone brightly in the kitchen, where she attentively prepared meals, ensuring that everyone who entered her home felt welcomed and cared for. She took immense joy in the company of her grandchildren, showering them with love and wisdom. Aurora passionately encouraged her children to strive for greatness, often reminding them with her favorite saying, "Don't think about it, just do it," instilling a sense of determination and resilience in their hearts.

Aurora's dedication to her family and faith was unwavering. A devoted Catholic, she found strength in her beliefs, often attending services and participating in her church community. Her favorite color, teal, symbolized the calm and nurturing presence she brought into the lives of those around her.

Mrs. Tafolla is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Felix Martinez and Mrs. Maria Luna Martinez; her loving husband, Francisco Tafolla; her children, Rosa Tafolla, Jesus Genaro Tafolla; her brother Jose V. Luna, Jesus Martinez; her sisters, Concepcion Aguirre, Rosita Luna.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons: Armando (Juana) Tafolla, Francisco (Oralia) Tafolla Jr., David (Cindy) Tafolla, Gerardo (Aurora) Tafolla, Efrain (Olivia) Tafolla, Genaro (Aide) Tafolla; her daughters: Gloria (Jose Luis) Gomez, Rosa M. (Joaquin) Martinez, Marta A. (Juan Carlos) Jimenez, Carmela T. (Vincent) Pena, Elizabeth T. ( Manuel) Moreno, America T. (Johnny) Bautista; her brother, Felix Martinez; her sister, Natalia Herrera and 48 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchild.

Friends and family are invited to honor her memory through the following services:

Visitation for Mrs. Aurora M. Tafolla is scheduled for Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm at Salinas Funeral Home- Chapel of the Heavens in Weslaco. Visitation will continue on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at Salinas Funeral Home- Chapel of the Heavens in Weslaco. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 pm at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Weslaco. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
