Weslaco- Antonio Marroquin, a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away on January 20, 2026, at his home in Weslaco, Texas, at the age of 94 surrounded by his family. Born on September 13, 1931, in Mercedes, Texas, Antonio was a kind-hearted and humble gentleman whose generous spirit touched everyone he met.
Antonio's life was a remarkable tapestry woven with adventures and cherished memories shared with his family. A passionate traveler, he often took his children on summer vacations to destinations such as Canada and Detroit, inspiring them to see beyond the visible world. His favorite saying, "diosito por delante," became a guiding principle for him and a reminder to live life with faith and purpose.
In addition to his travels, Antonio was committed to giving back to the community, especially during the holiday season. Every Christmas, he made it a point to deliver candy bags to neighborhoods in Mexico that were less fortunate, ensuring that joy and kindness permeated the lives of those around him.
A proud migrant worker, Antonio demonstrated the true meaning of hard work and dedication to his family, encouraging them to seek out the wonders of life beyond laboring in the fields. His belief that there was more to life than working was instilled in his children through weekend explorations and adventures across the country. His unwavering commitment to their happiness and growth was unwavering.
With a warm smile and a welcoming demeanor, Antonio was not just a great father but a great husband, son, brother, uncle and grandfather. He was a godly man who loved to dance with his wife until the next song came on, illustrating the joy and love he shared with his family. Sundays were special to him, as he dedicated his day off to creating vibrant experiences at his flea market stand.
Antonio leaves behind his loving children, Alberto Marroquin (Thelma), Eloy Marroquin (Nancy Vasquez), Estela Jefferson (Courtney), Elma Williams (Kenneth), and Elva Rey (Reynaldo). He is also survived by his sister, Josefina Luna; his beloved sister in laws, Maria Gonzalez and Gloria Bustamante. His legacy continues with his cherished grandchildren: Alberto Marroquin Jr., Abigail (Steven) Parker, Marcos Marroquin, Drake (Sierra) Jefferson, Aaron (Leyla) Marroquin, Alexandra Marroquin, Reynaldo (Karla) Rey Jr., Jared Williams, Gabriel Rey, and Kaitlyn Williams. Furthermore, he takes with him the love of his great-grandchildren, Dallas Jefferson, Emma Marroquin, Gianna Marroquin, Penelope Parker, and Martin A. Marroquin, and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry his memory in their hearts.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." - 2 Timothy 4:7-8
